well the brewery is pushing people to go there after getting their numbers in line

to do pre-release bottle sharing between attendees

lots of time to kill between 5 a.m. and the brewpub opening at 11

:euh:

yea and there is clearly shit to do then on a non homecoming/fest weekend because everyone is still drunk/still drining/hungover from the night before

well it seems they are pro-bottle sharing so I will most likely have a box of beer in tow to share

clearly nearly as good as I thought it was going to be based off of how others raved about it. Sadly my local brewpub does better.

Moving on to one of these:

Made a very successful beer run on Saturday, acquired these:

Unibroue La Terrible http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22/3635
"Entire Butt" (Salopian brewing co) http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/282/771
Trappistes Rochefort 8 http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/207/1696
Trappistes Rochefort 10 http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/207/645
'09 DFH World Wide Stout http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10099/2392

Currently drinking PBR because I needed something to go with my poop-work fast food meal and I'm clearly pairing the excellent beer with value menu hot dogs and breakfast sandwiches.

hopback is bad compared to nugget nectar
and tis the season for nugget nectar!
but for a regular amber, yes hopback is quite good

20 years of brewing will do that i guess?

nugget nectar isnt really "special" it is just seasonal
ok, well yeah i guess it is pretty special in a window-licking shortbus kinda way

sierra nevada seems to have avoided it though
pyramid has fallen victim to it from what I have seen of them
goose island minus their special releases

i would argue that mouflan is clearly better than nectar.. i mean in it's own right it is good but stylistically there are better barleywines than mouflan and there are clearly imperial reds that are better than fresh nugget (that I have had.)

mouflan is one of those things where Troegs tries to use their fresh, over-hopped character to make it better and it fails.

i prefer mouflan with some age over fresh mouflan, i am currenly working on getting a bottle of mouflan's original release which was a scratch beer so that we can have a tasting of 3 year old mouflan, 2 year old, 1 year old and fresh when it is released next year

:donno: i havent been a fan of any single brewery for more than 5 years (except for troegs) to be able to follow a trend in them losing quality or going main-stream

even when i try to compare how i felt a brewery "use to be" compared to what they are now or how their beer tastes now it isn't a fair comparison considering the way i analyze beer today is nothing like it was 2 or more years ago

Having never had it before, and only having it fresh this year I cannot comment on that, but will take your word on it.

Jesus fucking Christ why do I trust others' judgment, it wasn't a bar, it was a total shithole dive that pretends to be classy and also stops letting guys in when they don't have enough women. Had I been given a remotely accurate description I wouldn't have wasted a Friday night and $20 of gas trying to get there.

Tried to go to Prime 16 instead, but there was no parking anywhere, roads blocked by snow, and police blocking off even more. Going to drink a pint or two of box wine and fall asleep now.
