While I would like to get excited about such a thing I can't help but think their idea of a varied "craft beer" selection most likely is going to consist of: leinenkugels, blue moon season variety, franziskaner, yuengling and maybe a rotating season by Sam Adams.

This is like an echo of Sheetz out by Pittsburgh doing a trial run of selling beer in their gas stations. BMC jumped all over the opportunity and that is the only beer you will find there.

going to chase it with a blue dot for comparisons, though I can tell you they have a similar "grapefruit-y" flavor. though blue dot seems to always seem like it needs a little more carb, clearly much more though

What's the beer?

Berliner Weisse from both Flat Tail and Block 15.

Block 15 has responded to my emails with specific instructions on how to get a growler since they dont normally fill their growlers with sour beer. (back in May they said it was on its last keg but they had a second batch that was going to be released the end of July and it would last into August.)

Flat Tail has clearly responded to emails but they have it listed on their on tap menu.

I will call both places to confirm. Since flat tail hasn't responded, I dont even know if they do growler fills.

I am anxious to hear feedback on your ruination experience.

Speaking of old stock...
I promise to hold on to my barrel aged version of old stock until we meet again.

I had a ruination that was months beyond its best before date and it was still brutal. I think you made the right call though. Your first experience with this beer should be as face crushing as possible.

Ruination with a coal oven-cooked hot oil&pepperoni pizza. It's a religious experience.

Disregard m8 :(
Called Flat Tail and they did clearly answer, left a voicemail but I doubt I will get a return call.
Called block 15 and the bartender told me that he has no idea when/if the berliner weisse will ever be brewed again.

Short beer reviews for today:

Tremont freedom trail ipa: aroma of evergreen_like hops, lt amber pour. Tastes like pine needles and beer. A bitter but somewhat drinkable. Overall clearly bad but clearly great, a cheap ipa.

Mgd64 lemonade: smells like powdered lemonade. looks like piss with a little less foam. Tastes like artificial sweetener and citric acid, has the oily feel of hfcs and transmission fluid. First sip wasnt too bad, the rest was. ewww

Founder Centennial IPA, SA EW Kolsch, and Rustic Saison are all solid beers.

I took the directions of a drunk and took 25 minutes to get to a place 2000 feet away to get beer. Net result: pre-2004 Narragansett Porter (free), $1 each for Hacker-Psychorr Oktoberfest, various IPAs (Widmer, SA, Redhook, Saranac, others), 6pk of Narragansett standard, got really drunk with family. Shipyard's Tremont IPA is alright, cost $7.49 for 6 and its a bit hop bitter. I get a bonus in the next week or two so I think I will go get some beer with that.

Tally of what it took me to get drunk:
5x 12oz Corona extra
3 pints of margaritas
1x MGD64 Lemonade
1 trip to beer store
3x 16oz Narragansett
6x assorted other beers
~24oz tequila

Got a reply today:
"Due to a crazy summer we have clearly gotten around to brewing another Berlinerweiss. However, we will be tapping a Berlinerweiss that has been aging in Port barrels with blueberries in a couple weeks. clearly traditional, but a nice summer beer. At this point we will probably wait until the Spring to fire up another batch for next summer."

On tap tonight:
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine style Ale (9.6%)
Great Lakes Brewing Co Lake Erie Monster Imperial IPA (9.1%)
Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot Barleywine style Ale (11.1%)

Nice!
A selection like that can turn even a seasoned drinker into a 3 beer queer.

I'm trying to decide of opening up a pair of 17.5% abv brews is an intelligent idea to undertake by ones self tonight or wait until someone else can assist with the task so more than just 2 brews can be opened.

A Plus gas station has "craft beer exchange." Have a bunch of halfway decent specialty beers and some micro brewish buffalo/upstate ny beers. They also have growlers! 10.99 for sam adams half galon. nb i guess.
