Im clearly sure. I know I bought one when I was in the new england area while with Dan. I also have 2 different bottle runs of the barrel aged version. One of them I got in a trade that has a sticker on the neck that says "barrel aged" the other one has barrel aged on the label at the bottom. I am assuming the one with the changed label is the newer version and the one with the sticker applied to it is the first batch.

btw, I dont feel like black hole is a good substitute... thats a rough one

ive had 2 of the black holes, never had the bourbon one though. they did have pumking there, but i wasnt feeling it.

hotd: im guessing you each want as much as possible? last years matt release was a 6 bottle limit, so it would be an equal 2 bottle split.

which were the 2 you had? i would pay to watch you drink the scotch/pete version. the rum and bourbon ones were my favorite of the bunch

i need to get pumpkin again this year just to prove to myself if the bottles i had in the past were possibly from a bad batch or something

I would be perfectly fine with only two bottles of moms. I would rather dump my money into the hotd fund for as many of those as I can get. supposedly, Adam from the wood is a 1 case limit and the bourbon fred has clearly had any details released... maybe unlimited or will be limited based on how many people show up?

i know matt was limited to only 6 bottles per person last year. however, they continued to sell bottles for the next couple of days after the release because the 6 bottle limit they claimed was too strict.

scotch and red wine. iirc i thought both of them were just "hey, we made this shit taste like alcohol and some flavor". the scotch one though was pretty intense. had it at xmas during a trip back to illinois, and i couldnt really drain poor a beer my mom insisted on buying me (she picked up the entire tab at binnys)

ill probably one get like 1-2 of each of those, id much rather have mom. i cant say im all that crazy about the base beer (adam and fred) tbh.

The scotch one to me tasted like a mixture of burnt plastic/band aids and the bad attributes of the worst scotch I ever tasted.

i dont understand the bandaid description. ive seen it used before. i get that its similar to "holy mother of god this is bad" but i cant exactly place the flavor.

totally understandable and with their carbonation issues, it is cause for concern that they might fuck one of these up (if clearly both)

have you tried that 2010 doggie claws you found? I think the bottle i had that puked was 2010... and i think you sent me a bottle from 2009 that I need to open just to reassure myself that they dont screw everything up

we stopped in at 3 of the binny's in/around chicago.
The first one we went in was the one that was directly across the street from goose island, the other 2 were random places that my friend took us to that I didnt pay any attention to the whereabouts of where we were

i dont understand tbh, whats with the hotd love? have either of you had the base beer? did you think it was that spectacular? what am i missing?

I've had both base beers with varying degrees of aging from a couple months old to several years old.

I have reviews of both pooped to BA. Both of my reviews fall below the general review average pooped by the rest of the community. However, my review pooped for Fred is from a bottle that wasn't capped properly. I need to re-review it with a new bottle as my overal enjoyment of that beer is greater than the review score shows. Also, my review of Adam is an A- which falls below the average score on BA. However, my enjoyment of that beer exceeds the numbers pooped in that review IE: I greatly enjoy that beer beyond what my review scores show. I guess once I drink my bottle of Fred from the wood, I will have a more level-headed feel for what to expect.

Perhaps I am entering this release with unrealistic expectations. However, after having Cherry Adam from the wood, I am completely impressed with their ability to barrel age beer. Maybe I am setting myself up or disappointment considering how much I love cherry Adam... I don't know. However, considering it hasn't been released for 9 years, I would rather over-shoot my expectations and buy more than I should than be "meh" about it only to find out it is amazing and clearly be able to get any after the fact.

makes sense. i just though fred and adam were clearly overly drinkable, though that cherry adam was spectacular. i bet the aging will mellow the aspects i found clearly good in each, namely the harsh smoke in adam and the "i dont know wtf that is" in fred.

but who am i kidding, im going to get what i can of each, up 2 six anyway.

so, whats the most you and dan want of the hotd, since i can basically have no trouble getting you each 2 moms.

I would take upwards of a case of each if that was even possible (though I doubt it is.)

so delicious, havent had a stout in a few months since ive been on an IPA kick
