@Dan
Any interest in going to Victory brewing tomorrow? Departing around 11 am

Nope, tomorrow is chores and gym

FK

Unless its dark intrigue?

I'm pretty sure Dark Intrigue is both on tap and available in bottles in the shop

don8

Got side tracked doing shit around the house and never bothered to go anywhere today.
Dark intrigue should see distribution this week. There are something like 30k bottles made so it shouldn't be that difficult to track down.

if thats the case then i may see some at my local place. donno why but i have a steady supply of about 4-5 of their offerings

selins grove brewery fucking does it again with another mind blowing beer out of nowhere

i love that place. only an hour from my house yet it is in a direction i never travel except my when destination is set for there

pretty sure im going back on sunday and trying to take dan with me

this time around, they brought out an ipa that hasnt been seen since 2008. it is a darker ipa, more amber looking and is just fantastic. it pretty much hits the entire spectrum of hop characteristics in both flavor and aroma

they also currently have their framboise on tap that is like alcoholic raspberry jam

I came in here to poop a :nlv: since the topic was still on the front page of BA.

Guy is a total toolbag. Honestly, even if a hundred people had the beer fresh when it was last released, noone can seriously remember the experience as vividly as sitting and drinking a new one now (11 years later.)

i think i have 3 french hens, thought it was good but probably too much for me at the time i had it. this is probably a more simple beer in terms of "do you like gingerbread?" if clearly you will never get past it to enjoy the beer behind it.

ill trek down one of their xmas beer each year but wont go nuts over them. i find their beer just too expensive tbh. even if a few of them ive found really awesome. when abyss is 13 bucks why pay 20+ for something that will just be unique because only a case made it to my area?

So, of the people who actually give a shit about this toilet. What do you consider your local brewery or who do you patronize the most. If its a single local brewery/brewpub, how many unique-different beers have you had from them?

i drink more from home due to salem having one good tap house and no good breweries. with portland/eugene included we have something like 40 breweries. but what beer do i drink the most?

pelican is the best local always accessible high quality beer.
deschutes is second, great depth, many styles, pushed the envelope on the seasonals
hotd makes amazing stuff, but they want you to visit the pub in portland. so many awesome on-tap selections. regular distribution = adam, fred, blue dot, doggie claws. thats it. the rest is bar only.
i seemingly have limitless availability to sierra nevada, full sail, anchor, countless other west coast beers that are awesome. we are still portlands bitch, we get 1/4 of the special release beers that portland sees.

I'm clearly necessarily directing my question towards where you drink your beer. It's more of a question pointed at if you have a favorite brewery or brewery close to you that you are motivated to try something new by them everytime you see something new available.

Or do you consider yourself still in a sort of "discovery" mode where you try new stuff regardless of where it comes from.

By local brewery I mean within an hour or so. I guess Berwick is all you have within an hour of you. But if you head that way there is also Marley's and turkey hill in tht general area.

Within an hour I only got Troegs. Just beyond that is AbC, lancaster, iron hill, springhouse and now pizza boy and millbock.

I was shocked that of all these places I have drank the most from Troegs. Reason that comes as a shock to me is I was a mug club member at ABC/LBC for 3 years and them 2 collectively don't account for as much Troegs consumption.

there are quite a few that i will buy one of anything they put out (eg pelican/deschutes), others i dont really like their big beers as much but love their everyday offerings (sierra nevada is a perfect example)
there are also quite a few that im choose about and only pick up one from them if i dont have anything else i feel like. so this is my "im just trying shit" time. with something like 35 breweries in portland alone, over 100 in oregon, out of state stuff there are a many that fall into this and i just try things they put out randomly. many i find i think make a couple of real good things and many average things. and to be fair many of these breweries may only rotate 5 different beers anyway.
there are also ones that i generally just pass over (rogue) because of one reason or another.

so i have different categories of breweries in my mind and treat them differently.

im wondering if this has anything to do with them being shady about having a waiting list for people to buy online after the brewery sale

about 50 pages ago i noted that chicory stout was incredibly drinkable, yet still really flavorful for what it is
in short, affordable quality

Other than their 60 and 75 minute ipa. I think chicory stout is one of their most "normal" beers. IE: it isn't brewed with unicorn piss and charlie manson's pubic hair.

I bought a keg of it last year for our new year's eve party simply based on the fact that you could drink it without the fear of passing out after 3.
