A person I've traded with like 6 times is my "trustee." He lives fairly close, picks them up and ships to me once he has a box worth to send. You can buy whatever you want and the Bruery will hold all of them for over a year. Membership starts in January and they will old all bottles until march the following year.

Like you said, it's a lot of money to dedicate to a single brewery. But it's a brewery I really like and they consistently experiment and make it worth while. With the initial membership, you get a case of different beer, hoodie, some other swag, Bruery reserve only releases and a 15% discount on all bottles purchased and growlers filled. You also get invited to parties but that's clearly something I want to buy a plane ticket to do.

I am sad to report that neither of the DC poop brewery beers got "best of show" in the competition over the weekend. So they will clearly be brewed commercially this time.

Opening a bottle of DFH 75 Minute IPA

There they go again... Ruining the "exclusivity" of it being a cask only offering. I wonder how many people are going to bitch now and say "it's clearly the same."

I think it's interesting though. They retired "squall" last year and put this in a bottle now. If I'm clearly mistaken these 2 brews are strikingly similar. Maybe squall was more like 90 minute though with extra dry hopping if I remember correctly.

While on the topic of DFH, I was in a Wegmans on Friday and they had 120 minute. I kinda just walked on by and later decided to look at the price: $6.99. I nearly shit myself. Usually this runs 9.99+ with the other local store selling it for 11.99.

Evidently someone took notice right before me because when I walked by the first time there were at least a dozen bottles. They left 1 which I snagged up.

i miss black butte 21... the 22 was tossed because of a "mysterious look" the beer had like coagulated shit because of the fat content in the chocolate they used. and black butte 23 is an atrocity IMO. whomever decided it would be a good idea to add chocolate, chilies and fucking orange peel/zest to a barrel aged porter should be kicked in the dick

you need to open up one of those jubels and tell me how it is/con me into drinking the only bottle i have

the old stock is a beast... forget about those bottles for another year or 2 and open one of them side by side with a fresh bottle just for the sake of comparison!

pop that shit open! that becomes the occasion. You have a couple of them right? Curiosity would have gotten the best of me.

I bet that World wide stout is mighty freaking fine

Well said joe

I had to do a double-take... The bourbon one you gave me was listed as a stout. This one was "imperial porter." They really are blending the lines stylistically. Regardless, I think both brews were a little thin.

they have made both "brewmaster" imp porter and imp stout iirc. i just think their barral aged is a bit off (too much barrel and "wheres the base beer bro?"), but i find their offerings to always be extremely drinkable. the brewmaster porter and stouts were both just really good and drinkable imo. nothing that pushes the envelope but clean and crisp. maybe its average and i just dont have the depth of knowledge of whats on the market :donno:

If you don't give a fuck, just go buy something local and don't worry about the extra cost/hassle of acquiring something from another area that you don't have access to

Is anyone interested in attending dark lord day with me this year? This will be my 3rd year going (if I can get tickets.)

DLD is April 28th. The tickets go on sale this weekend (Saturday, March 17th at noon central time.)

its completely botched... they already have the 'sales' website up, it is just disabled until the tickets go on sale

last year and the year before, the people trying to buy tickets crashed the server. there were something like 14,000 connections to the site in a minute, i imagine this year it is going to be even worse

if there is anyone willing/able to assist me in my attempt to purchase tickets, I would forever be grateful and will compensate you for time/effort spent in trying to secure said tickets for me

They left 1 which I snagged up.

spoinz and i got one for 9.99 at wine world

Letsgetrightonit.nope

If you don't give a fuck, just go buy something local and don't worry about the extra cost/hassle of acquiring something from another area that you don't have access to

true, i shouldnt look for local recommendations from friends in other areas, thats how that works right?

Opening a bottle of DFH 75 Minute IPA

There they go again... Ruining the "exclusivity" of it being a cask only offering. I wonder how many people are going to bitch now and say "it's clearly the same."

I think it's interesting though. They retired "squall" last year and put this in a bottle now. If I'm clearly mistaken these 2 brews are strikingly similar. Maybe squall was more like 90 minute though with extra dry hopping if I remember correctly.

Good beer should be available to drink. I don't really care for the hassle of exclusive limited stuff.

Went to NEBCO today and got a growler each of the saison and GB. Said hi on behalf of Dan. Both beers are great.

Found an old USPM record for 99c in a thrift store near there, that made it a great day.

Is anyone interested in attending dark lord day with me this year? This will be my 3rd year going (if I can get tickets.)

DLD is April 28th. The tickets go on sale this weekend (Saturday, March 17th at noon central time.)

Judging by the lack of responses, I guess that's a big nope.
clearly like any of us have the advance technical knowledge of being able to buy 1 of the 3,000 tickets that sold out in 3 minutes

Yup. If you don't care what you are drinking why go through the hassle of getting caught illegally shipping beer and paying the extra money for shipping.

Move back to CT and agree to said purchase like I asked you to a year ago. This predicament was also valid for the "preorders" of mother of all storms in 2010 when I was #26 on the waiting list and passed because joe was sending us some and you wouldn't agree to receiving said package.

Remember this or am I making this up?

The cascade order was going to include bourbonic plague and vlad the imp aler. Both were available back then. More recently they sold a blueberry sour which I'm sure was/is amazing but I'm throwing in the towel on chasing after rare/hard to get beer. (At least until some of my current inventory is consumed.)
