hes a fucking tool. he sat in my garage and drank the whole time while texting that pyscho broad. he took pictures of the brewing process when i stepped out the garage. im about an hour and a half away from being done brewing today. i anticipate him showing up in the next 20 minutes so he can say he had a part in brewing today too...

Working through purchases still.
Pumpkin was divine. Best Pumpkin ale I've had so far this year. Founders is always amazing ofc. Really impressed with the double Ipa. For being 11.5 abv, the heat isn't so bad that it's undrinkable. Very citrusish (like grapefruit), with some sort of smooth, buttery, almost caramel feel to it.
Very very bitter finish, but I personally like it. The finish did Tab in, she was ok with the initial taste. Doing a Great Lakes October fest in the middle of doing the double IPA's tonight because pretty sure three of the 11.5%s on a weeknight would be a really, really, really bad idea for my head in the morning.
For the record I can get my wife to try every beer now (just the initial sip/swig, working on more ofc) to get her used to the tastes.

Yeah, that's the citrus feel I get from it. Obviously ymmv but for me it's like drinking a bitter grapefruit with a few other flavors mixed in followed by a huge warmth caused I'd assume from the higher abv.
The warming sensation is pretty big with it. Some people aren't into that but since I like drinking whisky anyways I enjoy the warmth.

the whole pumpkin thing (the way they did it) doesn't really add anything to the beer. I mean yeah, it looks cool and everything but the flavor impact is in the seeds and the surrounding membrane that holds them in there. they removed that in the video. if you left that shit in there, you would get that earthy vegetative pumpkin flavor imparted in the beer. but who am I kiding...I dont think they care about what flavor it imparts, probably just going for the look
the made elf with cherries and vanilla beans is pretty crazy good. but the hangover the following day is atrocious

now taking suggestions/ideas for future brews
i was challenged by someone to brew a beer that could be easily approached by someone who isnt a beer nerd. it got me thinking that i need to get back in touch with classic styles and do some lagers
up next is gonna be some pilsners but instead of making them clean and light, im going intense with hop flavoring with low-key bitterness. maybe do an octoberfest and bock as well

well... yes and no
if im clearly mistaken, the "ultra" line of beer that is for the calorie conscious is nothing more than the lite beers that have been watered down and their volume of carbonation is higher to suppliment the lack of body. can you make a light beer without adjuncts? yup but it probably wont be as low calorie

hotd nov 10:
The beer lineup was just broadcast by Alan:
"Very happy to announce the release of three Beers during our 19th anniversary weekend. Doggie Claws, Cherry Adam and Michael will be available on November 10th at 10am. There will be a 1 case limit on Cherry Adam and Michael, no limit on Claws. The line forms early, my guess is that people here before 7am should have no problem getting Beer."
