Also your reviews shame me into never wanting to do another one. Yes I'm a virgin to this, but yours read like poetry, while mine read like the fun facts you get on the back of a kids cereal box.
Dont let my long-winded, redudant rants and all out geek douchery deter you. In the beginning I used only a word or 2 to describe aroma and taste. At this point, drinking/reviewing is almost like a job. Seriously, it takes work and time to be thorough and takes a lot of the fun out of just enjoying a beer. I often concentrate way too much on what I dont like about a beer instead of what i like. I try desperately to simplify my reviews but it gets longer than necessary a lot.
I tried to quit reviewing a couple times but out of the blue i get messages from people thanking me for my opinions and how my reviews helped them with purchases. Ive also been contacted by owners of breweries and brewers themselves. They often are thankful for an unadultrated opinion whether positive or negative. Ive met a lot of awesome people because of that site and have been given more free beer than I can remember. During Philly beer week this year a brewer from Florida introduced himself to me. When I told him my name, he knew immediately who i was and bought me a beer. Its the stupid stuff like that which keeps me motivated i guess.
