session beer
n.

Any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV, featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and, typically, a clean finish - a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication. (Yes, you can drink and enjoy beer without getting drunk.)

--

Let's use it in a sentence!

"Whoa. This 4.5 percent ABV lager is so crisp, refreshing and drinkable, with just a touch of hops and malty sweetness. I could drink this all day long! Actually, I think I might!" exclaimed Todd. "Sounds like a perfect session beer! Next round is on me!" agreed Jason.

What is a "session beer"?

a beer you hang out and drink a bunch of during a session, generally low alcohol

it comes from great Britain when they would have meetings and drink very low gravity beers due to poor water sanitation

what scott is trying to say is back when all water was dirty, the best wayt o clean that up so people could drink water safely was to ferment the water, thus killing any potential bacteria. and they had different potency of beer, day time aka working on the farm beer and night time getting drunk beer. session generally = daytime working outside im clearly drunk just drinking a beer beer.

Eh, I have mixed feelings about southern tier's "flavored beer"
their mokah and choklat are way over the top...I found myself literally chewing the chocolate one, it is nothing shy of melted dark chocolate that is thinned out with alcohol

Over the weekend I had a growler of a double coffee stout. I'm anxious to talk to the brewer and find out if all he did was brew a robust stout and dump freshly brewed and chilled coffee into the beer. It's the only way I could ever imagine getting that much smell and taste of coffee into a beer.

@Joe

I was going to send you a box without warning as a random surprise. However, I want to pack more into the box to make the cost of shipping more worthwhile. Is there anything in particular you would like to try? For example, east coast specific stuff, stuff you seen me list here or review on beer advocate? I have a few goodies already but i don't want to send you stuff that you can get already for a fraction of the cost.

Nothing off the top of your head though that you want and haven't had yet?

You don't have to go into a detailed analysis, just looking for things we might have talked about before that I might have forgot.

Example: just typing this I remembered yuengling :B

If you gots work to do, don't worry about it. I think I got you taken care of this time around but will have to start paying more attention to your needs joestaff :wub:

To be fair, yuengling isn't a microbrewery so at least compare them to their counterpart: Anheuser Busch/ Miller Coors
