Got a new wii for the wife care of the irl trade forums. Had it for about 15 minutes before I modded it to play games off of an external hard drive.

I have slightly higher than zero interest in playing it but she really enjoys Mario brothers and a dancing game. Anyone have suggestions for other "good" games? Also how does shooter games work on the wii? If i was to purchase the appropriate controller for say COD: Modern warfare is that any good or does the wii zapper suck?

metroid prime ofc, mario galaxy, resident evil 4/5 are all fantastic

the wii zapper works pretty good for Resident evil so I would assume it would work decently with CoD.
our Wii has turned into a.....

party console: just dance, wii sports/resort, wii play
family time: guitar hero, dj hero
me and the kid: smash bros brawl, mario kart, ride, new mario

it went from nightly use for about a year and a half, to weekend use, to random company coming over and playing or something for crappy weather days.


PS3 has taken over for actual fun games with a rating over E.

wii sports resort if you like the wii sports game
both RE games are fun
metroid prime is indeed ofc
brawl is fun
zelda was good for a few playthroughs

I just went through our games a few weeks ago and traded in most all of em minus the ones above and a few others.

How do the shooter games work though...like do you have to use the same controller to move and point and shoot? Or is it like a classic duck hunt where you don't move and just shoot shit???

use the wiimote to shoot and do stuff on screen, use nunchuk to move around

Some games will update your wii automatically (if you are connected) and if it updates to the newest firmware it will brick your wii
