Played better overall?

You kidding me? When they pulled marty out of the net at the last minute for an extra attacker and then 5 seconds afterward there was another goal? you call that playing better overall? Canada got their shit rocked, and they were never ahead, not even for a minute. USA held that game while Canada gave them a blumpkin.

plus, you forget that USA is really playing for the GM and it's their obvious goal to win, especially to empower that man after such a tragic loss.

Considering on how many shots on goal Canada had, US Goalie was fucking amazing. And considering how many goals US had, Canada goalie is did fucking terrible. The US had the momentum almost throughout the entire game. Considering the talent Canada had on their team, they got fucking rolled by a bunch of young athletic americans.

What time is it on

I took off work LOL

fml i wasn't around to reply but i think the puck dropped at 740 EST. Brodeur was a giant fail with skates on. Canada outplayed the US team but goalies made a massive difference. Canada is failing pretty badly as usual at the WINTER Olympics. sometimes i feel like i put a coat on and compete ffs. alas Canada has the best hockey team this year, so long as Brodeur isn't in net. that doesn't make them unbeatable, but they look like the best team to me. they're a fair bit stronger than the US team, for example, but that's only if you take away the Brodeur effect. The US goalie is spectacular, and this is a great stage for him to show off his talents against the best offensive players in the world. netminding could be the key for US gold in hockey this year.

whereas Canada has excelled in ... men's skeleton and pair skating :( the only good thing that i see coming from this is that Caden said he wants to try skeleton at the Olympics. with two feet and two arms, he's already pretty much qualified for the Canadian Olympics team.

btw adding this image again in the topic because it's awesome,

I love how you justify you played better and you still do admit your goalie did shit piss horrible job. I don't know about you, but part of outplaying a team means great goaltending. That is like saying you played a good offensive game in football even though you gave up 30 or more points. I mean seriously, how the fuck do you think this way. The bottom line is USA fucking rolled canada. To say the least that Miller completely made Canada look like shit is an understatement. And while Brodeur got fucking showed up by a bunch of young americans. Canada did not play the better game, and it is simple why they didn't, because they fucking loss.

if the goalies were switched, it would've been something like 8-1 for Canada. that's what outplayed means to me. it's a team game but if you look at it as a matter of match-ups, Canada dominated the game. outscored is what the USA did. outplayed is what Canada did. if my team wins a basketball game 127-109 but the other team lost because i exposed their PG's bad defense, that's a win for my team but after the game we're going to admit we were totally outplayed. and the comparison to basketball or football isn't that great, because a goalie makes a HUGE difference in the scoring outcome of a hockey game. there are no goalies in football and basketball, and the "nets" are much different.

Using that you played well in other areas and still lose to justify that you somehow played a good game is something pussies do when they lose to make themselves feel better. At the end of the game USA had more points on the board which whatever way you played to do that, means you outplayed the team. I used the football reference because you wouldn't expect a team in football to be winners if they gave up 30 or more points, so how the hell can you expect to win in Hockey if you give up goals? The viewpoint of saying you play good in other areas is entirely not relevant. They obviously didn't win you the game.

Using that you played well in other areas and still lose to justify that you somehow played a good game is something pussies do when they lose to make themselves feel better. Still disagree about 'outplayed'. It's a pretty common sports reference to say you lost but outplayed the other team. My basketball season started out the season 7-0, we outplayed the opponents in all except one game (which we won) in that half of the season. I don't see the contradiction.

More importantly, Luongo just made a save that Brodeur wouldn't make. Canada has a better team than the USA and if Brodeur doesn't play against them next time, this will be made more obvious.

I already said I can see how you can outplay in other areas, but that doesn't matter and you can't use that to prove anything with merit, the usa outplayed canada in places it mattered considering they won the game. That is my whole point, outplaying a team is playing good in areas that made you win the game.

i didnt see canada players diving infront of shots.
to me that was very indicative of who wanted it more, quality of play aside.
