And the beloved WAR stat that Bubbachunk wants to harp on agrees with you, he's just ignoring that point.
You misread the stats as he has only had 2 sub 1 WAR years and now that he is playing 1B, a much better position for him, the numbers should not drop until he is near retirement.
You missread the stats as is states 2.0 and higher is "starter" material.
His WAR has been under 2.0 3 out of the last 5 years. And is only 2.2 this year.
In addition, 100 runs/100 rbi for someone who is jacking it out 40+ times a year is not really good production. He should be in the 110-120 range at least each and every year, but he's not, because he's too busy either walking or striking out with men on base, instead of putting it into play.
