Otherwise if it's 1k buy in, we just have it in a collective pot and if two people tie or have the same team they split the pot.

I understand being loyal, but why not break the viscous cycle? No one says you have to root for a front-runner...but maybe pick a team that won't be out of it by the All-Star Break? Have you ever considered a different team?
