weird for sure. didnt see that one coming. should solidify carolinas stance a little bit.

but it seems they are taking off of philadelphias trend of trading away good players and still being a good team

hopefully crosby still dies

Redwings 1st pick at #49 was 20th rated player, and the later round picks have size, yay.

kind of butt hurt about the free agency situation

however, was hoping we'd get weber anyway, still got my fingers crossed to poach him

i like our young prospects that are developing (nyquist is pretty sick with the stick)

Will be sad if Wings sit on their 17 mil salary cap space. Would like us to sign a solid defensemen and either sign Semin or trade for Nash. We have a surplus of forwards, Franzen + Nyquist + pick(s) for Nash if it was up to me.

Redwings have 16 or 17 forwards right now, they can trade for Nash.

I don't want Nash for several reasons: salary cap hit (around 7.5 mil, nn); Blue Jackets want too much; Bobby Ryan is cheaper and younger. Also want Semin.

Also, giving up Nyquist would be foolish, he has great potential. I'd rather see them give up Fillpula, Abdelkader, Cleary... Holmstrom prob retire.

Also, hoping Weber wants out of Nash

why there even is a thought of a lockout after how poorly the last one ended makes me want to shoot everyone involved squarely between the eyes

The sheer idiocy involved would make me LOL if it wasn't going to wreck part of our local economy. Although, LOL at the City in deciding bailing out the Blue Jackets was going to be a good idea. So much for that All Star Game.

if the NHL doesnt lock out, this season has the hype to finally have detroit not only miss the playoffs but be dead last.

it also has the rangers and the wild having all the tools but probably sucking ass

who will be the team to emerge????

pretty sure they would trade Franzen before filppula. But that doesn't surprise me. They just refused to trade him to a rival team.
Which I think is beyond retarded since the Wings have the cap space to bring in an all star, so no matter what, next year at the latest we're going to spend that cap space on a really good player.
You might as well get the most out of Nash as you can.

But anyways, Nashville matches offer and keeps Weber.

P.s.

Columbus loses Nash
Nashville loses Suter and Radulov (granted they only had him for a limited amount of time)
I would say Central Division has gotten slightly easier so Wing's have a somewhat easier chance at keeping their playoff streak alive.

The following message to fans was issued by the National Hockey League on Sunday:

Despite the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the National Hockey League has been, and remains, committed to negotiating around the clock to reach a new CBA that is fair to the Players and to the 30 NHL teams.

Thanks to the conditions fostered by seven seasons under the previous CBA, competitive balance has created arguably the most meaningful regular season in pro sports; a different team has won the Stanley Cup every year; fans and sponsors have agreed the game is at its best, and the League has generated remarkable growth and momentum. While our last CBA negotiation resulted in a seismic change in the League's economic system, and produced corresponding on-ice benefits, our current negotiation is focused on a fairer and more sustainable division of revenues with the Players -- as well as other necessary adjustments consistent with the objectives of the economic system we developed jointly with the NHL Players' Association seven years ago. Those adjustments are attainable through sensible, focused negotiation -- not through rhetoric.

This is a time of year for all attention to be focused on the ice, not on a meeting room. The League, the Clubs and the Players all have a stake in resolving our bargaining issues appropriately and getting the puck dropped as soon as possible. We owe it to each other, to the game and, most of all, to the fans.

GN8 NHL, time to be less relevant than soccer, if you even come back.

The up shot is there are tons of Bouncers now on the market for a job.

Yes/no, I agree they make more than enough money playing. But I do agree with them that if some one signed a contract with them to pay them x amount of money for y years. I would be pissed if they tried to take back that agreement.

For example, say they want to cut players pay by like 20%, they can take 80% of current contracts and have that count against the new salary cap # that they come up with. But they still have to pay the players the amount that they have on their current contract.

It's also horse shit that owners are complaining about the amount of money and years of the contract, but the day before the CBA expires, owners went nuts extending contracts to high amounts for long lengths.

This is squarely on the owners. Period. You're growing broke because you sign these players? Your fault, should have signed them for less.

Plus you already made them lower their cut in the last agreement...maybe you just suck.
