https://liveaccess.wnba.com/wnbala/secure/r...campaign=wnbala"The Washington Mystics will look to seal their first home victory when they face off with the Connecticut Sun on Thursday. Coming off a tough loss against the Chicago Sky, they get another shot against the Sun, this time on their home court, to gain some much needed momentum.
The Mystics didn't fare so well their last outing against the Sun not even two weeks ago when they were blown out 89-73 in the season opener. The Sun's bench was a key factor, outscoring the Mystics bench 31-18. Danielle McCray led the way with 14 points on 5-5 shooting in only 14 minutes. She was perfect from 3-point range, going 4-4. Overall the Sun shot 50% from downtown whereas the Mystics only shot 36%.
Alana Beard, who is out with a sprained foot, isn't expected to be back for Thursday's matchup so Matee Ajavon will have to pick up the slack. She has been doing a great job of that since the last time they played the Sun. In the first game of the season she was virtually a non-factor, shooting only 1-8 from the field and only had 7 points. Since then, she is 19-36 with 48 points and is a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. If nerves played a factor in how she played the first game, those are long gone by now. Look for Ajavon to have a big game in attempts to redeem her poor performance back in the first week of June. Nicky Anosike and Crystal Langhorne haven't slacked off but they are each going to have to make big contributions if they want to steal a win from the Sun."
