This is part of the reason I stopped using Opera, I didn't know there was a fix for it.

when entering shit into adress bar - comes up with suggestions/previous sites - how too stop?

the "adress bar" bit is still there (google search, forward, back reload) just clearly the bit where you enter url
maybe reinstall
