Posting some bands as I'm pretty sure DC is still a Dream Theater fan club.

Dream Theater (ofc) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKAkreYSns4

Symphony X - the best band in progressive metal
New (07) SX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUn4jXZko5E (the video is hilariously bad)
Old (95) SX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z454yP-XkwU

Scale the Summit - Instrumental prog rock/metal band, they recently joined the ProgNation 09 tour and I can't wait to see them. These guys are my age and they are the best prog band to emerge this decade.

The Kris Norris Projekt - Instrumental metal, very melodic. One of my favorite guitarists, formerly of Darkest Hour. Two songs on the album feature Randy from Lamb of God, rest is instrumental. Oh, and @ Sgull, he has a Dream Theater tattoo.

Watchtower - I heard Control and Resistance when I was in high school, around 2003-04, and I was blown away by it, I hadn't heard anything quite like it, and I later found out that it was from the 80s. Pioneers of progressive and technical metal, cited as an influence by everyone from Metallica to Dream Theater.
A few songs here: http://www.myspace.com/officialwatchtower
Cimmerian Shadows (1985) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkDhvGT-Ifk
Control and Resistance live '87 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_n-et9tTK4 (bonus guitar solo at the end)

Blotted Science - Instrumental extreme metal, pretty much technical death metal without vocals. Ron Jarzombek (guitar) of Watchtower, Alex Webster (bass) of Cannibal Corpse, and Charlie Zeleny, Jordan Rudess' drummer of choice.
Lots of songs here: http://www.myspace.com/blottedscience

First one, the music was good until they started singing.

2nd one was nice. Wasn't ruined by any screaming or weird vocals.

3rd one was nice also. No screaming in it once again.

4th one was n2b. But was kind of lame.

5th one is pretty n1. Fast paced Metal with no screaming. Kind of hard to come by.

If you don't like Russell Allen's voice, then you really are deaf...

Not in order because I don't remember the order too well:

A Nightmare to Remember
Beyond This Life
Hollow Years (with an extremely extended intro and solo)
A Rite of Passage
The Dance of Eternity
One Last Time
Forsaken
Keyboard/Keytar solo (with parts of Erotomania mixed in)
Sacrificed Sons
The Count of Tuscany (encore)

I think I got that right.

STS setlist:
Dunes
Age of the Tide
The Great Plains
City in the Sky
Sargasso Sea

STS were absolutely amazing, Zappa was great, and DT were awesome, LaBrie pulled it off well, much better than I expected!
