think about if they showed kids this movie instead of brainwashing ads, it would only take one generation to change the nations view on pot.

It isn't legalizing that could be the most beneficial.

It is the fact that we should harvest the plant for the Hemp and Cannabis it produces. It can help produce Methanol which is a great fuel.

And if you look at our current economy. It is failing because we fail to sell resources to make money. Our government just buys and buys and does not sell.

With the mass production of this plant, you could produce tons of things that we could use that could lessen our imports (Which includes a possible effective fuel source). And sell to make profit.

Legalizing it is going to bring in little amounts compared what we could do if we produced the drug to do different things with.

The drug has had good results in the medical field as well.

The only reason this drug was ever banned in the first place was because it was going to put the Lumber industry out of business.

Yeah, that is right, Hemp/Cannabis can produce 6x more paper in an Acre then Trees can, and guess what it only takes like 6 months to grow, while trees take years to grow.

So this drug was never even banned because of it's "social effects".

I don't even care if people smoke it or if it is legalized for personal use.

I just wish we would open our minds and realize what we could make with this drug.

i disagree with that, ive done a fair bit of research back in the day, though its a valid argument and certainly played a part in it being illegal

There was not a huge social problem with weed back then. The big problems back then were alcohol and bank robberies.

i think you have to look at the first laws, which made nothing illegal perse, only limited. they never foresaw a war on drugs like we have today. infact it wouldnt even comprehend to them how ridiculous all of this is. when the first laws were made it was due to opiates being put into every elixir grandpa was making, rich women were getting hooked, so they made a law that would limit that, basically a doctor could prescribe that but OTC drinks should not be laced with morphine etc. it was just a couple senators or so who added this in to help secure the cotton markets.

long story shot war on drugs is ridiculous, unwindable.

I still think the fact lumber companies knew they had to get on congresses side in order to not go out of business was a very driving factor.

agreed, just saying that the congressmen who got pot added to the initial law that really only monitored it were tied to the cotton industries. either way, money. and the fact it was not a white man drug made it very bad. the old propaganda posters about weed and how it made either the black man crazy and he wanted to fuck your wife, or how it made your wife crazy and she wanted to fuck the black man, were simply hilarious. in todays world we would see that shit and think it came from the daily show or dave chapelle ya know.

Yeah, I just think it is really fucked up how the drug issues are handled.

I could care less if people smoked marijuana, it is just the fact that many illegal drugs contains chemicals that can help create thousands of products.

I already had my rant above about what we could do with all that shit.

In the UK they now prescribe heroin to heroin addicts in a clinical setting instead of methadone to help them quit, and has a 35% success rate (roughly) compared to methadone that people can be on for years...

no
heroin just happens to grip 99% of anyone who tries it. many many people are just your typical 22 year old fucking around with drugs until they grow up but heroin is heroin so they are hooked. and if they have money, it matters not about the investment. they would get that money out to buy more heroin guaranteed.

I don't know what this is about but I wrote a 12 page paper on decriminalizing cannabis so that we could use it to grow hemp for textiles.
