last post on this for now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu_XQGR2nJU&feature=relatedthere's a debate among big cat fight fans over whether a tiger or a lion would win a fight.
this video shows a lion dominating an entire cage of tigers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu_XQGR2nJU&feature=relatedthis is a rare encounter between a lion and a bear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPyZQo2vyzY&feature=relatedin general, size and aggression are the key factors in tiger vs lion fights. physiologically speaking, the largets tigers reach around 100 pounds, whereas the largest lions (VERY RARE) reach upwards of 750 pounds or a little more (this isn't a falsifiable claim, i've seen lions over 700 pounds; the extra bulk on these lions was due to their habitat and a basic adpatation over generations. as well, some african tribes has reported lions over 880 pounds (unsubstantitated)). a large adult lion weighs 400-500 pounds, and for several species of tiger that's at least an upper limit. a liger is bigger than both, usually topping out around 900-1000 pounds.
lion:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigeri used to speculate about lion vs. tiger battles as a kid, until i learned more about them. in most zoo confrontations, lions tend to dominate. from what i can tell, this is because tigers "read" into lion behaviour. they see that other lions are suubmissive to a particular lion and they act accordingly, not really wanting to upset the balance. tigers are less social than lions. this si something that lion vs tiger enthusiasts often fail to notice, but the domination video posted above is based on learned behaviour. as well, the male tiger being dominated by the male lion is probably outmatched. hunting apdaptations vary slightly between species, but environment plays a major role, rather than solitary or communcal existence.
for the record, female lions do much if not most of the hunting in lion prides; however, male lions tend to be more powerfully built than female lions. in zoos, a lot of lions than appear to be females are actually males that have been castrated (they don't get the huge scruff). donno what else to say about the debate but if any of you find it interesting, now you have some information. basically a fight between lion and tifer would null out. if anything, i'd put money on a male lion vs a male or female tiger or a female lion of the same size. regarding video evidence, adult male lions rarely lose such challenges. then again they're lazy bastards who care a lot about establishing dominance, so aggression comes into play.
btw sup gull i saw you on RS but i was logging out when i saw your msg so i didn't reply (was already loading the exit).
