The books were amazing, the movies were actually pretty decent considering some would probably have to be 6+ hours to do the books real justice.
The books sucked.
Shut up. You suck.
I could see Jp relating to the novels, as he and the protagonist are in much the same financial situation, but you guys? Why?
If you want to read about contemporary wizards in a modern society, read The Dresden Files.
Without all the blank spaces due to formatting and dialog, Harry Potter books are very short with a great lack of uniform concision. It's been years since I read one of the novels, but I certainly recall certain scenarios requiring paragraphs, while other setting transitions were favored with a sole sentence. Forget about events occurring simultaneously with dialog, we all know that large groups of kids sit idle, twiddling their thumbs.
The biggest "oh, wow" revelation in Harry Potter was Snape - really? It took that fucking long, and that was the best we got?
Your time wasted reading Harry Potter should have been spent on Feist or Jordan novels.
