sand snakes are corny (ironborn written out for this? and arianne?)
season 5 and just now dropping RLJ hints for the first time
completely pointless scenes with tyrion
not complaining about melly tits, she is mesmerizing, but what a comical scene there too

and then
barry the bold, the greatest most hyped knight ever, falls at the hands of butter knives with halloween masks
just awful
insulting

but, on a high note, we had game of feels with mannis
shireen is happy, confirmed she will burn at the end of the season

why is this ep not on demand yet, i forgot to watch

i liked the episode in general, but the sand snake that gave the little monologue was probably the worst acting i've seen in the entire show. cringed hard.

also interesting that the faith militant went from 0 to 60 in one episode. but i'll allow it because the name is pretty cool.

and, as always, littlefinger is the man

the title synopsis of the ep was "the faith militant grow in power", i thought i missed an episode before watching it
they decide the best spot to introduce the 4 small female fighters is right after jamey and bronn kill 4 dornish men on horseback, ok
i liked the mereen fight scene though, finally some action after telling a stupid story for 2 years
i like the tommen/cersei/margery/loras dynamic, interesting in how tommen either will become a bitch or will become a badass

its interesting to see what plot lines are important, and what is not. anything that changes is just a more efficient/more visual method to advance the plot. sure, some are better/worse, but they are apparently not important to the overall theme.

show stannis is so much better than book stannis imo.

rather, i should say that the character type plays so much better on a screen.

i, for one, am really liking all the changes. barristan was such an awesome character, its a shame they killed him, but i think jorah is more liked on screen and they are trying to keep the actor around. i actually am enjoying this plotline with him and tyrion better than the freak circus in the books. im not sure whats going to happen with the jaime in dorne plotline. can't wait for arya next week

no, just endless online speculation. many of which seem plausible though.

that specific instance would make sense, based on brienne's goals/what motivates her

agreed. except that they both (brienne and stannis) ultimately want sansa safe, so they are aligned there. I think this will be her conflict, and she will have to put her revenge away (or choose the opposite ofc). which oath wins.

its basically a totally alternate universe at this point, so its almost not worth comparing to the books anymore
i need to remind myself of that when i get butthurt about show stuff (like when my favorite book characters are cut)

interesting, because she seems very set on keeping her oath to cat, i would think she chooses not to kill stannis. however, its GRRM and he probably would let her selfish side win out

i think this "high budged fan fic" is totally overdone. i saw that on reddit. its the same story with slimmed down side plot lines to be understandable on screen. people that have not read the book have a hard enough time knowing everyone thats not on every episode. perfect example is how many non-book readers know

the books are amazing in their own way, but its impossible to translate to the given 7 years (?), 10 episodes. and bookes 4 and 5 were so meandering that its doubtful it would make for exciting tv imo. the changes made will be important to the side story, but not the main plot, "a song of ice and fire".

but this show would either need to be 3 times longer to make everything in the book coherent to those that only watch the show. we all binge read the books, and have gone back and reread stuff, and read theories. most show watchers dont even go back and rewatch previous seasons before the new one. if the depth of characters and plot lines was in the show so many average viewers would be lost. the show, on its own, is still very good (you may not like the changes, but they are all an effort to get the main plot lines presented coherently in 10 hours.

sure, the sand snake fight was pathetic (they could have put a token fight in to help explain why they are such bad asses, this feels like a star wars prequel mistake to just tell us without showing us). sure, the sansa plot change is odd (but it does go to show that the important part is whats happening in winterfell and not the eyrie). would be nice to get some greyjoy action in, and with the casting of a pirate next season, i assume we will.

either way, the show cant be the books. the scope is too big. thats why grrm even started to write the books, he was tired of having the depth of his ideas streamlined to fit a tv format. just seems silly to be angry now when it should have been expected.
