New Burial EP that goes by the name Kindred consists of a sick trio of proven Burial-quality.
I won't really bother describing this, just recommend you to get it.

Only know Gonjasufi and Ghostpoet from that bunch. Three Trapped Tigers sounded pretty interesting, so did Errors. They both had some pretty trippy videos on youtube. Proal have to download something from them.

Oh yeah I think someone showed me this like years ago:

New Busdriver album called Beaus$Eros is pretty weird compared to his earlier stuff, even considering he has his own take on hip-hop. I think there are some really strong tracks but some boring and weak tracks so let's just call it interesting. A lot more electronic than I could expect. Maybe it'll grow on me.

7.2/10

Busdriver - Utilitarian Uses of Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMeduF_Uu48

Compared to his earlier, rapid-fire style:

Busdriver - Imaginary Places
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpP-8tJ-9Js

Also downloaded Nite Jewel - One Second of Love just based on the nodata comments. I just feel good listening to this album. The tags for this album were pretty extreme along the lines of 'avantgarde' and 'new weird america'. Those tags make me think of some drugged up bullshit, but I think this album was actually a very easy and pleasant listen. Of course mostly because she has a great voice. Some songs have a Joy Division vibe to them, just imagine Ian Curtis singing instead of her in this song.

Again, not sure if this is even released since I couldn't find most of the songs on youtube. This song was apparently a single released months ago.

Need to study a lot in the upcoming week or three. Listening to Pantha du Prince - Black Noise (2010) on the background. So calming but powerful, for example the track Satellite Sniper still takes me by surprise with that avalanche of a bass. One of my favorite and most-played albums. What I think is unique about Pantha du Prince in general is that he somehow stretches the timing subtly every time he brings in a new element (making you appreciate it even more) instead of throwing it in your face, or being as predictable as 90s German happy techno, like a lot of electronic music does. Also the random clicking and ambient sounds on the background help create a "landscape" and make it sound a lot more than a sum of its parts. I've found similar producers, like Sten, but nothing quite like this man.

Heard M83's Midnight City on the radio during my driver's test today. If you had asked me two years ago could M83 get radio plays in Finland, I probably would've said 'Hell no'. Maybe it's because of the upcoming gig in Helsinki.

Fucking obligatory army shit, can't go to Flow Festival this fall.
Some new artists to the line-up:
A$AP ROCKY (USA)
THE WAR ON DRUGS (USA)
ST. VINCENT (USA)
FOUR TET & CARIBOU DJ-SET (UK/CAN)
ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER (USA)
SIINAI

This also took me by surprise:
Feb 22 2012: MICHAEL GIRA (USA) COMING TO HELSINKI

Swans vocalist Michael Gira have been confirmed to headline Folks-Festarit at Korjaamo on Saturday 21st of April. The American musician will play an acoustic solo concert.

I need to move to Helsinki.

Just checked the line-up, pretty sweet.

I'm currently trying to find more female singers, here's some female-fronted bands/artists I like:
Grimes, Zola Jesus, Feist, Karin Dreijer-Andersson (Fever Ray, The Knife), Via Tania, LCMDF (alias Le Corps Mince de Francoise, ridiculously uplifting Finnish electro-pop), Mint Julep, Nite Jewel

Feel free to suggest me anything.

Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star)
Low (Both male and female vocals)
Band of Skulls (again both, and quite rocky compared to the rest a part from this song "Honest" that i loved)
The Concretes (some of it kind of poppy)
Gregory and the Hawk (really chilled)
Warpaint
My Brightest Diamond
Tilly and the Wall

Also didnt realize Karin Dreijer-Andersson was in both the Knife and Fever Ray, thats cool.

the wreckers
stars (male/female tradeoff poppy/sappy love songs ((i only have in our bedroom after the war, its very good)))
seconding warpaint/tilly and the wall/the knife
ghost mice [folk punk, forget her name but she sings on most songs. male/female duo]
this bike is a pipe bomb [folk punk, same stuff. little easier on the ears than ghost mice]
nana grizol/defiance, ohio - more folk punk/folk rock stuff, not really female fronted but ladies sing a couple songs/verses here and there, music is great too, some of my favorites. i would check them out regardless
matt & kim [great poppy duo]
danger mouse + daniele luppi have a pretty cool album out "rome"
CSS/cansei de ser sexy - poppy dance music, some cool music videos. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7agPOt1XZz8&ob=av3e ]

idk. looking through my library i dont have many strictly female leads/singers besides things that i feel are probably too obvious to mention but most of the above minus the folk punk ones are probably in that same category of obvious [yeah yeah yeahs/rilo kiley/regina spektor/the fiery furnaces/eisley].

long list but definitely get stars, matt & kim, the wreckers if you can only grab 3

then grab the nana grizol/defiance, ohio ones just because they are awesome as fuck female leads or not

I'm gonna look into these tomorrow anyways. Forgot to mention Warpaint on my list and I think I have some Stars album from a few years ago and I've heard of CSS but the rest is new to me. Also I have no idea why I like that Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes album from 2011.

Edit number one thousand: There's some pretty sweet remixes of those Lykke Li songs aswell.

Had a propper look through itunes. Listening to the Knife now, most of these arent as good but see what you think.

Angus and Julia Stone, I really like them, similar to Stars.
Beach House
Cat Power
Chairlift (bit poppy)
Chromatics (Kinda like Fever Ray)
Delorean (some female vocals, remind me a bit of the Knife but more dancy)
The Duke Spirit
The Good Life, indie male/female vocals
Ida Maria
Jenny Lewis
Jonsi and Alex
Laura Marling
Marina and the Diamonds
Of Montreal probly already know
Pains of Being Pure at Heart
PJ Harvey probly already know
Raveonettes
Robyn, some are pop, some are pretty good
St. Vincent
Taken By Trees, Victoria Bergsman from the Concretes (Swedish)
Tresspassers Williams, similar to Mazzy Star, eerie, chilling, beautiful, trippy

There is hope
http://nodata.tv/

As for those female vocalists, I didn't really find a lot of stuff I could fall in love with. Delorean was nice but not exactly what I had in mind, good stuff regardless. Also some of that stuff I was already aware of, like Beach House, Chairlift, The Raveonettes and Pains of Being Being a Hipster Pure at Heart. A lot of those singers had a great voice but they were accompanied by boring guitars and stuff like that. I guess my taste is kinda weird. :donno:

Might have to look more into Gregory and the Hawk.

Yeah Grimes is one of my favorites, already had a post about her latest album in this topic.
Also I've listened to Feist - Metals a lot this week, good stuff.

Also Active Child
Wild Beasts
Wild Nothin
Youth Lagoon

Youth Lagoon is pretty cool, the rest didn't really stand out for me. Some Active Child song sounded a bit like Telefon Tel Aviv.

Also, Little Dragon might intrest you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yeb3q5nqWA

Also, not female but you know SBTRKT, Caribou, Washed Out, Gold Panda

Yeah I know those, used to listen to Caribou a lot. Gold Panda's DJ Kicks is pretty solid along with his other stuff. I think the album that brought SBTRKT to mainstream attention had way too many vocals in it, I liked his earlier stuff more, like the track Atomic Peace. Washed Out is good, but overrated imo.

Listened to Band of Skulls album today.

I think this is a great example of good female rock vocals.

Feist - Metals seems to get better by every listen. All songs are solid and seems like there are no fillers. Dark at some points, but overall it's very powerful.

Feist - Circle Married the Line

Wrong title on youtube.

Also found a FLAC of Handbraekes (Oizo + Boys Noize) - #1 EP so I decided to give it another listen or two. It also gets better by every listen (same goes for anything Oizo-related tbh) but I can't get past the annoyingness of The Qat. Riho is a treat, Callgurls and Milc are solid.

First 30 seconds is so Surkin.

Pretty cool. The name seems vaguely familiar, I think one dude showed me a song of hers like a year or two ago. Very chill stuff.
