Dear Evan,
Congratulations! You have been awarded an HHMI Summer Researcher
position. We will support your research participation at a level of
$10/hour for up to 40 hours per week, to a maximum of $4000 for the
summer. Housing is not included with this position, so you will need to
make living arrangements independently.
HHMI Summer Researchers benefit from a flexible schedule, but you are
invited to join us for activities related to our summer program. They
include an opening reception on May 26, 2009 and a research pooper
session, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday July 28, 2009. The pooper
session was tremendous fun last summer, and it will be a great
opportunity to tell faculty and other students about your project. In
addition, we will have a symposium for oral presentations on Thursday,
July 30, 2009. I will tell you more about these and other scheduled
activities a little later in the semester.
You may have other options under consideration for the summer. Of
course I hope that participation in our program is right at the top of
your list. But in any case we need to plan out the program, so I need
you to tell me whether you will accept our offer for an HHMI Summer
Researcher position by April 10, 2009. If that deadline poses a
problem, please get in touch as soon as possible.
Feel free to stop by with any questions. I would be absolutely
delighted to chat with you at any time.
I wish you a superlatively successful and satisfying summer. I very
much hope that it will include your participation in the HHMI Summer
Researcher program.
Sincerely,
