My experience in converting an old chest freezer into my 4 tap system for draft beer.

Here the old fella is prior to getting started.

The drinking started to take effect at this point.

Paint job is done with chalkboard spray paint so that you can write what beer is which tap on the top along with what the ABV is and when it was tapped etc etc.

Currently just running a sanitizing solution through each keg because the first homebrew I plan to keg is still fermenting. But I already placed my order for a half keg of Yuengling bock to toss in there and I plan on having the maiden tapping this weekend.

When fully stocked, there will be room for 2 homebrews and 2 domestic beers on tap at any given time with 2 of my homebrews sitting on deck to be ready to be tapped if one gets kicked. It will also hold a full sized keg and a carboy for me to make lager in.

Those are scratches in the paint where the former owner would lock their dog in the garage when he was bad...

CO2 does not lead to beer degradation like you are used to with kegs at college parties.
tl;dr the beer does not spoil

I've had more than enough in my time of drinking as is. Probably the single largest reason I got to the point where I needed to diet.

A ton more than I originally expected because I didn't cut any corners other than getting a freezer for free off of a friend.

Overally, I paid about as much as what one would pay for a brand new single faucet kegorator.

If you do make one, make sure you really sit down and think about what you need verse what you want. I really wanted to add a line dedicated for stout on nitro, but that would have jacked the price up by more than $400 bucks.

This idea started as me just wanting to convert a freezer to make lager. Then when I got the freezer I visualized what else I could do with it. 4 taps for me right now is overkill but I saved a significant amount of money by buying it all right now instead of on a "as needed" basis.

It's my hunting seat primarily for when I go turkey hunting and duck hunting. I toss all my calls/extra shells/snacks/gloves and other assorted items in it and sling it up over my shoulder.

And it is priceless. It was one of the ingenious ideas that my grandfather came up with and when he stopped hunting he gave it to me. It was an idea he came up with in the 60's and they actually sell these now.

Mine will be size type deal nothing crazy like nitrogen. So I would have a bar with taps etc. Again though i stress much further down the line, I dont mind to bottle.

i feel like nitrogen would be the best. inert gasses wont affect anything, i guess carbon makes it acidic but im not sure how important that is in beer

for as much as i love beer that is in a nitro can or on nitro tap, it just isnt worth the cost

a 5 lb cylinder of c02 costs 15 bucks to refill and will displace 8-10 kegs of beer based on what pressure you set it to and if you force carb the beer or not
an equal sized nitro tank costs nearly $200 bucks and availability is a bitch..when you find a place that will fill it, it needs to be sent away to be filled and costs $50 bucks to fill, of which you only get to dispense 3-4 kegs of beer...

based on the above statement alone its what like nearly 10 times more expensive
and for what? just a better presented beer with different mouthfeel... eh no thanks

This is amazing, nice job. Homemade tap system + beer is just :cheer: !

I like your truck too.

You're going to run into troubles with all of the lines hooked up to the same CO2 setting. We have 4 taps where I work running off of the same system (a lager, a pale ale, Amber Bock, and Bud Light) and I'm always having trouble having to adjust the CO2 pressure for pouring different beers.

I thought about this today while at work and it's gonna be like a hundred and fifty dollar investment to get individual regulators on each line to have the different gravity beers at higher PSI. I can put that addition off to a later time, at the moment I only plan on using 2 lines.

I hope that's the case and I can use the $150 on different kegs or homebrew recipes/ingrediants instead of fine tuning the beer lines.
