As previously said, I hope all is well. Many people have mild heart attacks and don't even bother to get them checked out, so hopefully his case proves to be very mild and just recommends that he takes things a little easier.

on friday night mary (step mom) takes him to the dr
99% blockage, ballooned him and shunt inserted(?), just woke up about an hour ago

Exactly what I said. People try to play the tough guy knowing something is not right, wait too long, and end up dead. He's lucky she convinced him to go (I will assume that is how it went down).

Either way, a stint will open up the heart and hopefully if he takes care of himself it will remain unblocked until he lives out the rest of his life. The new stints are much better than they used to be.
