Keep dodging the current topic because then you may never have to admit to yourself that you're life could be more exciting outside of the PC room.

You've called that out, I will be doing so, not sure when.

I'm not attacking others, but you want to talk shit about people with addictions yet you have no grasp of the concept behind them, you just think people are weak.

Very close minded and very much a hypocrite.

I should go to a doctor tomorrow instead of going to work and see if he can diagnose me with a disorder.

And you talk about it on the internet, so it is also a mental addiction.

like i said, physical addiction = addiction
mental addiction = something everyone has of some sort or to some extent and just needs to learn to deal with it. if you try to deny that we live in a society where we want to diagnose everything possible, laying blame for how we are as being something that is unavoidable. living in moderation is not something thats easy to learn, no shit. blaming addiction as to why you play video games is lame. you do it because it fun, it helps you avoid responsibility, helps avoid social situations that may make you feel uncomfortable, or because you really cant help yourself and you are compelled to feed your addiction?

im not calling you out, im calling out a society where placing blame on some condition we were born with or are more prone to is the approved way to deal with how to live in moderation. this does not include people addicted to substances that make the body physically addicted. those are addictions. video games are a lack of self control, nothing more.

as for me, ive never said im not addicted to games, but thats not my excuse to play them either, and i dont endlessly talk about how unhappy i am. i know who and what i am. why? because i spent 5 years figuring it out, tearing myself down and building myself back up. it was not so i can have a more socially acceptable life, one that people can say im the life of the party, hes so outgoing, we love him. it was so i could feel better about myself. life is way too short to worry about if i fit into some generic mold of what society thinks my life should be. but then again i have never enjoyed going to bars, staying out drinking until 5 am multiple days a week just so i can feel like ive done what people my age (:k: 10 years ago) are supposed to do.

so continue calling me out, ill still be your friend no matter how hard you try to make it easier on yourself to do a complete about face in life.

But you still seem to think that mental addiction is meaningless, it would be difficult to argue that point and call everyone a pussy like you are doing (I used to do), if there were people out there who weren't kill themselves or others over them. That seems pretty physical to me. Continue to sit on your high horse though.

I'm calling out myself, I know the person I am and for some reason I can't hate myself enough to change.

Life is an addiction. Every human has an addiction.

We all attach ourselves to something. Whether it be Mental/Physical activity.

The reason video games are addicting is because they simulate the mind the best way possible.

They allow you to place yourself in a different reality that is similar to dreaming but you have full control unlike dreaming.

yea, gaming addiction for a child would change all my views on people and their desire/motivation to either improve themselves or improve the way society views them or classifies them as deviant

yes, we all have the quarks that make us who we are. some are viewed as abnormal. some are viewed as positive. but each and everyone of us have that one or two things that either drive us or hinder us, control us in our thoughts and actions.

Until I have a kid I won't know, but imo, if you have a walk it off attitude, they'll develop a walk it off attitude.

trick with today is the parents need to be around more so their kids remember them more than the video games the parents let them play to keep them occupied

but you are right, nurture over nature imo

Why should you care for someone else who doesn't even care about themself either.

Mainly why I have no sympathy for any one who chooses to do suicide.

gonna throw this out on the table
someone close to me once came to me during college and handed me a letter. the letter was a goodbye letter, written in a car outside of home depot. they had gone in the store and bought a hose and some fitting to run the exhaust into the car. when writing the letters they decided they could not do it, but still wanted to write the letter. this period in their life was brief, was complicated, and is to my knowledge the only moment of weakness or pure sadness they have ever had. that was about 12 years ago, and they have never been happier since deciding not to.

moral is dont hate someone or be too judgmental for making a mistake in life. i do agree its the easy way out, but realize that a 10 minute moment of weakness may have been all that played out, not some long concerted effort to end things.

But you still can't justify it. Those who decide not to do it are completely different from the ones who actually do it.

I know I am a judemental person. And is probably wrong. But you cannot respect someone who has no respect for themself.

But you still can't justify it. Those who decide not to do it are completely different from the ones who actually do it.

I know I am a judemental person. And is probably wrong. But you cannot respect someone who has no respect for themself.

that story is not up for debate, but contemplation. i have no idea how close to suicide they were. but imo thats pretty close, and was not a cry for help as they dealt with the issues themselves right then and there. a real turning point in their life

I thought my sarcasm would be noticed considering my stance thus far.

A close cousin of mine has been diagnosed with the up & down disorder (manic depressive), which I proelbay have a decent case of myself, but it's a good thing that she can just walk it off when need be and doesn't have any breakdowns or episodes. The medication certainly would do no better than a sugar pill.

do you think everyone on medication for "up and down" disorder needs medicine? (this has nothing to do with your cousin)
