What can I buy that has a long shelf life and wont needed upgrades like video cards to keep up with new games?

Also what should I look for in a case?

my decent computer has a 8800 gt, that's really all you need

that's my video card

it is kind of large, you need at least a medium sized tower if you're building yourself

and the comments are correct, be sure to manually set fan speed higher or else it does run pretty hot

i've had no problems, tf2/wow both play extremely smooth at max settings

when i built my computer i forget what package deal that card was with, but it was only $80

this is the one i have or close to it, mine is actually THIS ONE! but its no longer available. 16 mhz difference in the core clock is the only change I see


btw it is simple to OC with the utility it comes with and runs cool as hell.

check their forums and more than likely it will tell you the main differences

in a nutshell the 9800 is on avg like 50 fps better than the 8800 on max quality @ 1680x1050 , it runs cooler and you can OC it more. basically its worth 35$ more than the 8800

dont even bother with 8800 at this point imo, for just a bit extra you get a complete generation newer card

Dells are inexpensive and come /w a good warranty

and customer service is top notch as long as you are under warranty meaning the first 6 months unless you pay half of what your comp is worth to add an additional 2 years

without a warranty dell charges you $50 just to talk to a real person

j/k about the alienware btw nn paying thousands for a custom case and overpriced bloat

the 3 years I saw for dell are like 100 or 150 max..P good price.

189 for 3 yr in home and not worth it if you buy a cheapo computer.
decent deal if you buy a high dollar xps but then they include 2 yr for free
