What is a safe house? Top
A. In the intelligence trade, a safe house is a secret refuge for spies engaging in covert operations. The CIA glossary of intelligence trade idioms defines a safe house as a seemingly innocent house or premise established by an intelligence organization for conducting clandestine activities in relative security.

How long has the term "safe house" or "safehouse" been used in the intelligence trade?
A. According to Allen Dulles, former Director of the CIA, the house of Rahab the Harlot was the first safe house of record (Joshua 2) The term, safe house, is often seen in spy novels and news articles about espionage. The blockbuster movie, Mission Impossible referred to a safe house three times. As long as espionage and spies exist there will be a need for Safe Houses.

What is the Safe House in Milwaukee?
A. Your Safe House in Milwaukee is a popular spy-theme restaurant and night spot that since 1966 has provided Crafty Concoctions and Incredible Edibles to hungry agents on R & R. It is secreted behind International Exports Ltd. on Front Street in Milwaukee. Nowhere will you find a sign advertising "Safe House". "Secret agents" find this spy-haven mostly by word-of-mouth. (Remember, you are sworn not to reveal the location!)

Is it true you have to know the password to enter the Safe House?
A. What good is a Safe House without a password? It depends on time of day. If you arrive at International Exports Ltd. before 8 p.m. chances are you won't be asked for the password. After 8 p.m. you are on your own. Hint . . . Control never turned away agents on the run because they didn't know the password.
