im a big fan of stout and barleywine
just finished off a bottle of great lakes edmund fitzgerald porter and it wow'd me
i love IPAs and Stouts cuz hop-head
ive never had a barlywine, what should i look for
fresh american style barleywine is like IPA's on roids
oh srsly maybe i should get. any specific breweries?
nvm this i pooped after u did without seeing
pretty much any brewery that has the balls to try and make a barleywine does a pretty good job
the only "bad" barleywines i have had were those that were way too fresh and had no taste other than alcohol and hops
have you ever brewed any?
i have one that is ready to be bottled but still needs some time to age once bottled
i went with the english style instead of american. it isnt as hoppy but has 12.5% alcohol
i put some smoked malt into it to make it have some depth in the flavor and it ended up tasting very smokey almost like bacon. it really is awesome tasting but it is a little out of the style. i know this is a shocker coming from me but i hope some more time will drop some of the smoke/bacon taste out of it
