protein bars is the topic.

i tried a couple fruit and nut bars and protein bars and things, and so far my favorite has been these "pure protein" bars, which have 32 g of protein and can sustain me for lunch if need be. i figure i can bring one for lunch and eat and apple and that could be a nice light meal a couple times a week.

the problem is these bars are expensive, like 2 bucks a bar. anywhere i could buy for cheaper or any other cliff/protein type nutrition bars i could try?

thx

The stuff i use every now and then is called cytogainer. For 6 pounds it's like 40 bucks, which is about 75 scoops. It says to put 4 scoops in 16 oz, but that's just insane.I used to put 2 scoops in in 12 oz of milk.4 scoops is around 50 g of protein i believe.

As for bars i haven't really used them at all, mainly because of the price as well.I've found just drinking a lot of skim milk has really helped. It's probably cheaper to just make them yourself.

Also high-protein foods in general, stuff like chicken/tuna/fish/cheese and milk ofc will help although i'm clearly really sure what your goals are.

Protein bars in general are expensive and usually taste like raw dick...I'd probably either
A )Make my own
B )Just drink a protein shake...40 cent or less a serving..have an apple or some walnuts etc with it.

if you wana get some protein shakes hit me up

yeah i was also thinking that i might buy some whey protein shake mix or whatever, which would be another good idea. it also is good to get protein in my diet, because i would rather get more calories from protein instead of fat and carbs

and my goals are just to be a little more healthy with eating, and start eating better portion sizes instead of consuming what i dont need. i've realized that ive gained like 10-15 lbs over the last year (the first time i have gained weight since senior year of high school), and to burn it off i need to just exercise a little more each week, but i think i need to rethink my diet as well.

mainly because i realize i no longer am a teenager and can eat whatever i want whenever i want without gaining weight.

weightlifting would also be a good strategy, but i am more worried about building cardio atm

if you're wanting to lose weight, muscle is what burns fat.

I would say shakes are the best bet for protein, and if you add in flavoring or like some strawberries/bananas to it they really dont taste half bad.

I would be interested to see how you could possibly make your own protein bars since the once with like anything over 26g of protein are ridiculous expensive, like 30$ for a box of 12-16 usually.
