and nick, if you live so close to the beach, why arent you there

Going to the beach by yourself sucks.

I have one friend that lives in Naples anymore, and he is married with a 1 year old, so I have no friends that live in Naples.

this is why nobody can tell if you're asking for help or trolling
but i think you may actually be depressed just based on stuff you have said a few times over

i don't even know if it's worth saying anything but if you're actually depressed, too little or too much sleep can both be problematic (aim for 8-9 hours w/o staying up past midnight), having a balanced diet helps, exercising helps, getting outside helps, etc. i don't think you'd need a how-to guide but idk. spring/summer would be the best time of year to get rid of feeling shitty.

as a basic rule, life is what you make it, and what you can make depends on your perspective. escaping through drugs is generally the opposite of being there for yourself.

depression is thrown around too much in our society. we want to label things so they have an out, an excuse, something to blame other than ourselves (speaking generally here).

anyway, afk

that, or an effect of the pathology of our times is that people end up depressed. what i mean is that there's always some guiding rationality (among competing ways of thinking and doing) that defines who we are as subjects, and which plays into what we take to be true, and how we relate to ourselves and others. moreover, as this stuff circulates and has effects on us, it becomes ingrained in our institutions and our way of life. specifically, we're medical subjects, we're economic subjects, etc. we clearly JUST medical subjects or economic subjects in the sense that medicine and economics have been around for a long time and have always played a role in subject formation; rather, our relationships with the kinds of truth etc that are engendered by medicine and economics (for example) have intensified.

hence, to speak of the pathology of our times, we may see as signs such stuff as the growth of pharmaceuticals, the role of recession and depression in everyday ways of being, etc. depression is, as you said, thrown around too much. but what allows for this to happen? i think it goes a little deeper than just a social surface upon which new illnesses are concocted just for the sake of some execs making a few million bucks (here, medical and economic rationalities are connected but still competing). people are actually turning into depressed subjects = what i'm saying. anyway that's just an effect of something much broader.

anyway just shootin the shit.

i started going to the gym regularly a few months ago and i can say that having no background in sports and stuff, it really made me more energetic and positive about things
