graphics are fried in my laptop, its a independant card, but it is integrated into the motherboard as well

replacement motherboard without an independant graphics card (downgrade) would be $130
sending laptop in to get serviced whilst out of warranty would be $398 (fk off hp, i can buy a new laptop for that)
as far as i can find, you cant buy a replacement card itself (could find a used mobo with the same card in it maybe)

or i could trash the laptop, get a new high end desktop for $700 (i dont have that kind of money, but would be awesome)
this laptop is only 2.5 years old, and would probably last at least another year or two with new graphics, but you never know

by independant card, i mean more like independant chip, its clearly its own card, that doesnt make sense

i havent really been playing games that are pc intensive lately though, i dont know what the requirements are on starcraft 2, but that and maybe the next wow expansion are the only games i can forsee myself playing in the lifetime of this laptop (if it was repaired)

just put the laptop back together after gutting it for the past 3 days, i got it running on an external monitor in black/white, with the laptop display sitting next to it on the desk for the network card antennas to function

its clearly beautiful, but i can use it again for web browsing at least, when i took off the heatsink, the thermal paste for the processor and gpu got cracked and i dont have any to replace it with, so nn trying to game

@ joe, i think i am going to have to buy an HDMI cable to connect it to my 27" tv instead of shitty old monitor, best cable i have to use for that is s-video and it looks like shit with it
