You know those nifty commercials where the guys are playing shit from their comp on their TV? How do they do that?

Yes, I know google is my friend, and going to use it...but figured I'd ask you guys too, since some of you really seem to know your tech stuff.

All I know is space shit. Knowing that TLI burn needs a delta v from LEO of 3.05 to 3.25 km/s doesn't do dick in the practical world.

I have a feeling I need another ethernet cable first. TV is clearly connected to my router.

Or this.

:donno: just something I wanted to try and play around with tonight. I'll read up on it more and see what I can do. Would be n1 if I get it to work.

If you have a new laptop usually it will have an hdmi out. Older laptops will probably have an s-video out. If your tv has a vga (monitor cable input) almost all laptops have that. I also think the commercials have something to do with Windows 7 being able to broadcast wirelessly. No idea about that.

Yeah, the commercials make it look like you can do it wirelessly, which is what I was going for. Dunno. I'll check later if I can hook my tv up to my router, since they are right next to each other, don't need a long cable.

is it a desktop or laptop? lmk what video outputs your computer has and what inputs your TV has, it is easy and cheap (as long as you don't buy from retail stores like the one I work at)

Laptop (Dell inspiron)

I'll get back to you on the ports. TV is a Magnavox 32MF338B/F7. Same about the ports.

That has a VGA input, so just use any generic VGA cable (15-pin/3 rows)

On the odd chance that you don't have a spare one, you can get a gold-plated, diamond encrusted VGA cable shielded with Hitler's braided moustache/pubes at Best Buy for $99, or here for six bucks, shipped. http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepar...102&cp_id=10201

Because their power supplies don't fit my form factor (because they stopped stocking energy drinks in my store)

Dell is behind the bandwagon on adding HDMI ports to laptops, they still make a bunch of mid range laptops without it.
