i'm pretty sure there is no lift on the back and the fan is built into the bottom, so if it sits flat on a surface the fan doesn't circulate right and the HDD melts

dont think anything actually melts, but the fan just runs constantly even when no programs are running, although windows 7 probably has better power management than vista
