Just updated mine to be 12%. I need to find out what % all of the taxes for me are, what gets deducted step by step, and then goal seek to find the perfect amount to withdraw per paycheck.

from what I've been told by everyone if you can take out the max for everything, it only benefits you in the long run

does your employer do a match percentage?

when I worked for capital bluecross they matched up to a certain amount. I was completely fucking amazed that people didnt take them up on this free investment (potentially hundreds of dollars per paycheck)

fast forward 2 years, the stock market crashes and i lost 8k in 2 months so it didn't really fucking matter now did it?

now i do the right thing and shove all my money under my mattress
and by mattress i mean invest it in beer and drink it
and by drink it i mean hoard it in my cellar with no intension of ever drinking it

they match 100% for the first 3% and 50% for the next 2% so essentially 4%

I was drinking long before I lost 8k and I'm clearly depressed. That's a risk you take when investing in a volatile market. The joke about shoving money under a dirty mattress and using alcohol as a more stable investment was a joke. Why the fuck am I even explaining this...

no matter what at least do the max that your employer will match.

if you can afford to do even more, than do it.

it will only help you, who knows if you can afford it in the future.
