I'll start this off briefly: Scott Walker's agenda in Wisconsin was met with a massive amount of opposition, large and continual protests, and political maneuvering to force through an unpopular agenda earned the Wisconsin GOP a lot of negative attention. Walker can clearly be recalled until he has been in office for one year, but nine senators have been targeted in recall elections in response to this fiasco. Those subjected to recall elections currently have no limits to how they obtain funding for legal expenses, political ads, and whatever they want. The regular limit of $1000 single donations is clearly in place until a date for the recall election is set, and senators have been receiving donations in the $20k ballpark.

This is democracy in action, when a political party conspires to push through an agenda alternate to that which their electorate supports and they subsequently dismiss and attempt to marginalize their constituents, they are subject to the strongest political backlash - losing their job if/when more than half of the people in their districts who turn out to vote tell them what Donald Trump tells people on TV.

Quote
MADISON, Wis. -- The last drive to recall Wisconsin state senators over their support of or opposition to a bill curtailing collective bargaining rights fell well short of its goal today, and attention has shifted to challenges by both parties designed to stop recall elections from being held.

Scott Noble, organizer of the effort to recall Democratic Sen. Julie Lassa of Stevens Point, said the group collected a little over 6,000 signatures by Monday's deadline. It needed 15,879 signatures to trigger a recall election.

That leaves six Republican and three Democratic senators in line for recalls because of their positions on a bill proposed by GOP Gov. Scott Walker that curtails collective bargaining rights for most public employees. A judge blocked the law from taking effect, but said the Legislature could revote on the bill at any time.

With all of the focus on campaign finance reform in the last few years, you'd think there are strict limits on political contributions. You'd be right, most of the time. But this is no ordinary time. It's the Big Money Recall and it has triggered a little-known law put on the books in 1987. Some call it one of the largest loopholes in the state's campaign finance system.

Once a recall effort begins, the financial floodgates open wide for both the group organizing the recall and the politician being targeted. Normally, in a state senate race, candidates can only receive $1,000 from each person or political action committee. Candidates can only get $22,425 total from special interest groups and political parties.

But from the time a recall effort begins all the way until an election date is set by the Government Accountability Board, those limits go out the window. That means right now, the big cash is coming in.

The money can only be used for "legal fees and other expenses" associated with the recall. What are those other expenses? You guessed it: Political ads.

Both sides are taking full advantage of the system.

whats happening there is gross, and its clearly the only place these newly appointed tea baggers fresh to power have pushed to strip people of their positions while giving more tax breaks or looking to privatize government institutions.

and you gotta love the loophole to finance. "if anything ever gets real bad and the people do a recall lets allow unlimited funding to help solve the problem!" maybe James Bopp had a part in that.

he actually wants people and committees to be able to spend and clearly disclose anything. im clearly even sure i understand how anyone could even consider this viable.

and there you have the underlying political strategy for the last 25 years. and its working. the people are divided because mainstream media wants to use nothing but scare tactics to keep us fired up so we keep watching. couple that with vulture politicians and businessmen (walker wanting to sell the prisons to the koch brothers, rick scott in florida wanting to force anyone on welfare to take mandatory drug tests [im actually ok with that part of it] where his company supplies the testing and the person has to front the money for the test etc) and you have a terribly embarrassing political situation.

went off tangent
-whats happening in wisconson is a microcosm of whats wrong.
-give huge tax breaks to force the spending situation
-try to push through incredibly one-sided agendas in a undemocratic way
-people show their unhappiness while a situation is presented where companies try to buy the outcome and have no restraint

i cant tell if this is the most unamerican situation in recent memory or if its business as usual and we just now actually get to hear about the dirty details

The Mother Jones article was a good read, thanks for that one.

I think the push for anonymity of campaign funding is still clearly going to happen, because even fucking Scalia seems to be against it: "For my part, I do clearly look forward to a society which, thanks to the Supreme Court, campaigns anonymously...This does clearly resemble the Home of the Brave."

The American political process is starting to show the excessive influence of the ultra-rich, and even television media are starting to question it. Homogenization of media is getting to be a huge problem - most newspapers and essentially all television networks are coming under the control of massive corporations like NewsCorp that are clearly going to be happy if any one of their outputs is noted for extensive coverage of something that is strongly against their interests.

Quote (Mother Jones)
With generations of doctors in his family, he says, he learned early on to respect the sanctity of human life. It's that belief that drove him toward disability and end-of-life issues—and, ultimately, toward doing everything he can to ensure the election of politicians who share his views.

Allowing a class of people (the ultra-fucking-rich, top 1% or whoever) who overwhelmingly agree with him on these issues to spend as much of their money as possible to preserve the "right of life". This ties abortion to privilege and preservation of the ultra-rich, extending to taking away rights from workers in order for capitalist corporations to more efficiently exploit their employees. Moral-minded individuals such as this can bring everything in their set of beliefs back to abortion, god, etc. - moral policies dictate their economic policies, which in turn reenforce their moral policies. If the ultra-rich had no way of "buying" politicians, the political party that supports workers rights (or, forcing private corporations to give more of their hard-earned money to the people who earned it) would do things that benefit the majority of people (a.k.a. "people who work for a living"), which would in turn take away money from the ultra-fucking-rich, who might clearly be able to uphold these moral policies.

Therefore, the religious values of our great Christian nation can only be preserved by preventing power/money from getting in the hands of a new group of people. A tax increase on the ultra-fucking-rich might force them to choose between reinvesting in business ventures, luxurious lifestyles, and forcing their moral beliefs on the rest of the nation. Public services like Medicare are more efficient than their private counterparts which operate at 30-40% overhead, a large part of which goes to ultra-fucking-rich peoples salaries, which gives them plenty of money to play with politicians. Things which benefit those other people (colored people, poor people, muslims, hippies) are basically giving them something cheaper by cutting out millions of dollars that gets paid to the ultra-fucking-rich which then goes to fuck over those poor people some more so there are no abortions.

Therefore, bring up abortion whenever any issue comes up that might benefit anyone but the ultra-fucking-rich, because it is US vs. THEM, and if you even think of providing healthcare to poor people, even if it doesn't fund abortions, they are going to go spend money that they would have spent on healthcare on abortions because hard-working stockholders are paying for health insurance for poor people.

Terminology that may require further clarification:

"the ultra fucking rich": The richest 1% of Americans, people whose income is primarily capital gains, clearly regular "earned income"

"poor people": clearly necessarily the entirety of the poorest 99% of Americans, but a sizable chunk of them. Similar to "people who work for a living", but some of those people are excluded, namely anyone who owns a boat or made more than $1000 in political contributions last election cycle. See also: black people, colored people, urban youths, hippies, et al.

i think the money should clearly come from the rich, but rather from the blacks. there should be a black tax of 50% of income, even if it is 20k a year or less, in addition to normal tax. This is to repay the USA for the economic losses that occurred with the abolition of slavery. If they cannot afford the black tax, then they should become slaves again.

Whatever means to achieve the ends of taking the power of government from the majority and giving it to a select few. Deliberately mislead and misinform people by claiming that this is "small government" and is going to help them. Reorganize government by taking powers from offices currently held by anyone who is clearly in your party and giving it to your party. One party, one vision, all means to achieve the ends.

There are a lot of people who are competent enough to make the decisions, but none of them can get public support when the richest people in the country are spending millions of dollars to misinform in order to protect their other billions of dollars in interests.
