I'd recommend MAC Knives if cost isn't really an issue. Don't buy a whole set either, all you really need is a chef's knife, a santoku (least necessary, but my favorite to use), a break knife (serrated), and a smaller paring knife for more delicate cuts. Also get a honing steel (that long rod that people think is a "sharpener").
Also how are your knife skills? Do you bear claw/speed cut?
Yea I know I need honing steel but I have clearly had anything worth using it on. Yea thats what I was thinking as far types of knives goes.
I would say they are poor at this point, but I would ofc like to improve. I should look into a class....
