Someone must have peed in your beer :donno:

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale is solid, but it's more of a spiced beer than a pumpkin beer. Dogfish Punkin Ale was so mediocre last year that my local beeratorium didn't even stock it this year. Heavy Seas Great Pumpkin was good last year, haven't had it yet this year. Sam Adams Pumpkin beer was good too.

pumking gets too much attention and is clearly the "king" of pumpkin beers like many refer to it as. the last 2 times I tried it, it tasted like a hefeweizen with extra alcohol and spices added to it with little to no pumpkin flavor. the other ones you mentioned im pretty sure have little to no pumpkin even added to them, they just include the spices you typically associate with pumpkin. these are the kind of pumpkin beers that turn a lot of people away from them since most assume that pumpkin ale is all about the spices and doesn't even have pumpkin in them.

there are 3 pumpkin beers that stick out in my mind as being something I would continually purchase if made easily available. prior to trying these 3, I hated pumpkin beers because they were typically all spice and no pumpkin flavor

midnight sun: treat (this is like a hybrid porter mixed with pumpkin)
selinsgrove: pumpkin ale
iron hill: pumpkin ale

the last 2 on that list use dessert pumpkins in excessive quantity and you really get that rich pumpkin flavor with a very minimal amount of spice

I can clearly get any of those in Connecticut :( If I can get any of them in NY I'll call around and try to grab them next weekend because I'll be almost in NY anyway.

Pumking doesn't taste anything like you describe it, so I guess we have really different tastes in that regard.

I thought I had a bad bottle until I had it again on tap and thought the exact same thing.
All cloves with like a shot of vodka added.
