been a "social" smoker for a lot longer than i have realized when thinking back upon it

have severely cut back since ive started dating this girl (no purchases at all, even when drinking, only smoking a couple here or there)

was sick about 2 weeks ago for around 2 weeks, go antibiotics and felt much better (real sick, clearly related to quitting smoking); also had a cough going at the time

no longer sick, still coughing

my cousin said when she quit smoking that she had a nasty cough for a while, and my boss said his dad has never quit because the cough he gets if he tries

does this sound right?

how long will it last?

i did clearly develop a cough after quitting (12 years of a pack a day+)
i certainly did have moments where you could tell the tar was loosening etc, though that random throat tickle did last a few months.

i never did understand this argument though as it just didnt pertain to me, ya know.

I get a bad cough when I stop smoking for a couple days.

when i stopped smoking for an extended period [~6 months] i would cough up phlegmmy shit for probably the first month, coughed for another month or so after that.

granted that was only 2 years or so of smoking, and clearly cigarettes

Smoked from 13-19, did clearly have a cough when i quit, had stupid headaches and stomache cramps but i quit all of my vices at once, except porn of course.

ask your doctor about an ace inhibitor if you want a real cough

I smoked about a half a pack for 2.5 years.

I quit cold turkey about 40 days ago.

My cough was pretty bad for the first two weeks, and I still at times cough up some shit. But I smoke pot as well, so I'm sure it's different.

But overall, I feel a lot better and I'm glad I quit.

i spoke to an older lady who smoked 3 packs a day for 40 years, she stops breathing 19 times an hour and has to carry around 5 machines with her.
this was the solution to my problem

if you cough after socially smoking then i guess you must cry when the wind blows the wrong way too
