clearly at all, I feel that God keeps me sober simply because so many people are dying. 2 of my good friends have died in the last 5 months, one of them had a funeral on Monday. If anything this gives me that much more motivation to try to help people and show them what I did to get well.


See, my best friend died a few years ago, and that's why i can't get behind the 'God saved me'. He was 20, but for some reason, God decided that was enough years to live. I would have thought you could relate, but apparently clearly...
I'm clearly saying there definitely isn't a God, it's just the kind of God you describe, the save some, fuck Africa kind of God, doesn't make sense to my puny human brain...


God gave us the gift of free will. this has consequenses, like people doin drugs and killing eachother and africa. God is there to help you when you are ready for it. If you turn to God, you will have the motivation and strength. Yes the strength was inside you all along, of course it was. but your faith allowed you to grasp it


Thats a fair enough answer, but people credit God for everything, "I gave myself to god and he saved me" I would mind as much if they said "I found god and together, we overcame the problem"


That's kind of a silly thing to say, because everything we possess in our will power has been granted to us by God, therefore anything you accomplish has been because of Him.

It may seem silly to you, but to those who follow logic and reason, it makes sense.

I would hope that all christians felt they had a symbiotic relationship with God, it saddens me to think there are those who just give themselves to god, do his bidding and become a slave to religious beliefs without really thinking, essentially becoming sheep, like most of humanity. Don't let religion own you.

2. I give myself up to God and he grants me serenity and freedom. How can you claim to live by logic and reason and can't understand that after 3 pages?
