If you block someones number, do they know?

I was told that if they call it goes straight to voicemail. What happens when they text you? Does it go through on their end?

i tried to block someone once and was told i had to file a harassment claim to do so

i think they get a message that your number is clearly reachable
clearly sure about sms off the top of my head

I'm no gary but I do know from past experience they don't know you blocked them until they try and text or call you which will receive an error message
