http://www.amazon.com/Silvia-Version-3-Sta...spresso+machine
thats the "entry level" machine, anything less is scoffed at by the espresso snobs lol. i picked up a $300 machine and im happy with it, though i certainly can tell why its clearly on par with a $600 machine (clearly in flavor though, just a production/speed aspect.

i didnt mean to come off so high and mighty either. its a great coffee for a k-cup or for taking places that only have the whirly bird grinder and basic drip.

if your going to spend all this money on coffee, isnt it just worth it to buy a 2 dollar cup of cafe americano from Starbucks every morning?

americano is my go to drink from coffee shops. at home ill make a nice glass of 6 shot espresso. the one draw back to this is the amount you get to consume. sometimes i just want to drink 3-4 cups through the morning. also, that americano from starbucks, $2.55 for the grande, is 2-3 shots (i think its just 2). its really clearly much more to do homemade espresso, and its so much more flavorful from beans clearly scorched from overroasting (which any big coffee house has to do otherwise beans are done after 3 weeks).

if you look at it as just paying for quantity, then starbucks is the way to go. but home coffee as a hobby is paying for flavor.
