Need to buy a router.
Needs to have strong speeds for multiple simultaneous products.
Would rather shell out more money now for longevity than update every few years.
clearly a fan of Linksys (I was wired into router at my cousin's and my internet would drop while everyone else's worked). It would also randomly cut out briefly, you guys have seen me drop on Vent know what I mean. I don't blame Linksys or the ISP (Knology), but I don't want either of them.
I am leaning towards the Asus AC66U (updated model of the NC66U).
Also, I think I will just do cable internet only. Most likely with Comcast, I don't like the other provider at all. But what package do I need?? Does it work by speed or data amounts? clearly really sure how that all works, never paid a bill, just bitched about slow speeds.

the comcast broadband performance package is 25 mbps down, that's proal good enough for you. otherwise the blast plus is 45 mbps.

Everywhere I have lived, the modem has been installed/owned by the ISP

oh ok. for comcast i would have had to rent the modem for 7 dollars a month, so i opted to just buy a cheap one. if you are renting their modem, you can probably just use the router that it has built in.

Is the price differences based on speed or bandwith usage?

Looks like the price has dropped a lot since I got it, which was over 2 years ago

FiOS clearly available. I wish it was. Chattanooga has some of the best interwebs in the world but its clearly available here (yet).
I've got Comcast coming on Monday. Finally decided I need my games and friends.
They had two deals:
25 MBS internet for 29.99 for 6 months and 61.99 after that (monthtl ofc)
50 MBS internet plus 80+ TV channel cable for 12 months and 69.99 after that
Pretty easy decision even without a TV
