Unless you're referring to an old fashioned pump and dump, which can happen with any of them.


the person who originates the currency creates a shitpile of it for himself while its easy, then "pays" people to advertise the currency using said currency, gets people to buy the currency with promises it will 10x or 100x in value, then sells it once it has an actual usd value

Well yeah, but I'm clearly mining random shit coins that no one uses. Litecoin is like the silver standard to bitcoin's gold.
