because numbers show big mac was good. but in reality he was modern day dave kingman, which is to say not all that important. what tat little piece does not show is how hitting the ball moves runners, whilst striking out does not. and how about getting on base by hitting the ball and they make an error?

this author is a asshat cuz he thinks all these new fancy stats mean more than the older stats that are black and white. Fact is teams can and do win in todays game without much power, and teams loaded with power rarely win. his argument is mute.

It is not purely about power but also about getting on base (walks)

I do not agree with everything but you gotta admit dunn hits into alot less dps haha

his walks are also offset by strikeouts, which is a worthless at bat, i don't care what this dude says about it, a ground ball is better, a fly ball is better. anything is better.

these stats that take into account power are overinflated by power hitters, and undervalue contact. give me a team of rod carews and tony gwynns and i give you a high scorng offense.

I am a cubs fan. i have seen all kinds of shitty power hitters. they do not translate to consistent wins. they do however translate to more blowouts, which inflate numbers.
