Finally got around to watching the preview to this, and I must admit, it looks as retarded as the explanation I got about it from my aunt.

Movie looks like a King Kong/Jurassic rip off about prehistoric monsters with a plot that is just entirely useless.

Sorry, but I won't attempt to watch this.

I will appeal to the wife's good sense by reminding her of free movie ticket vouchers we've had around for a few months. Could decide the swing vote :)

Not knowing you/wife's relationship well you could always say its better to go out before she gets big from baby and don't wanna be seen in public :donno:

Free tickets could work too tho

everyone should just go see this on imax
if you are not some uptight rush-type (aka spencer) you will appreciate this movie for what it is, an amazing world in 3d with gr8 effects

She's a bit too sharp for that manipulative ploy, but you're on the right track.

Update: saw the movie :D

Nat's sister-in-law was a willing partner in crime. I enjoyed it. I put it on par with 300 or thereabouts. Avatar: good cgi, plotless plot with a message that everyone stops caring about once the movie ends, pretty good pace, some okay fight scenes. It's the Starship Troopers of Jurassic Park-like movies.

Any idiot will notice the plot line was hardly original. James Cameron said the movie wasnt about the story, it was all about the visual aspect. So basically skipped a year writing it and spent the extra time to work on the visual effects.

james cameron has also said he's had the story in mind since the 1970s

that's plenty of time to make it original, yeah?

Saw it again--this time with the wife & also in 3D. The 3D enhancements weren't as spectacular as I'd hoped, but I was able to sit down for a few hours and not feel bored again. noted the preview for the next Shrek movie in 3D. I'm committed to seeing the cat get fatter.

i thought that since weeknight, like any other, avatar would be 7 dollar movie (normally 5 bucks but 3d so 7). because of nigger day (sry mlk day) apparently its a holiday and i spent 28 for me an my girlfriend.

however, as much as i hate to admit it, it was worth my 28 dollars.

and 3D was a lot cooler than i expected
