It's a step in the right direction but the PC isn't the end & be all of the user interface that is going to change the scene. I'm more talking about handheld tablet like PC's with Blue Tooth interaction with your cell phone, computer, TV, [etc]. It's already in the works but nothing is a 1 stop all sort of setup yet, but it's pushing in that direction.

no

companies like that wouldn't pay any dividends, would be investing all net income into more assets.

so you would all go for existing giants and hope that their stock continues to rise at moderate rates instead of an emerging market/company?

im actually a bit surprised

not sure what kind of staying power a lot of companies have. for one thing, privatization of the internet (long threatened, never happened) could really screw up the googles of the world. in a decade an entire and viable industry can develop and fall, especially in the age of communication. heck, it can happen in months. here are some place you may want to look:

communications (we gotta talk) & communication tech
government (control makes a difference)/military
energy (we need to do stuff, this requires energy)
entertainment (if people have fun, they don't realize when they've fallen into a trap)
insurance/financial instituions (who takes money to make money will do well)

mabe much later: food industry (not in the next 10 years, but imagine if it gets centralized) if the established market economy lasts long enough

potential monopolies exist all over. how to win: check nascent public companies, find out who they know, find out what they offer, arrive early. would you buy it if you're a stupid person with a penchant for buying into the stupidest shit possible? that's the gold mine. other way to gain is this: look at what will determine what we can do, when we can do it, and where we can do it.

my grandfather and my uncle both made mirrions playing with the market or with investments. what i gathered from their monetary success was that they basically put long-term cash into banks with high stability or start-up value, and they put short term cash into nascent companies that looked like they had something to offer. another thing i might say is to avoid buying into all the strategic bullshit you'll hear from economists, magazines, tv shows, professors and other money experts. stick to the basics, b/c there's a lot more money in it.

btw there's a lot of money and interest going around related to medicine now. another place to hunt. there's alot of money to be made in relation to illness and death, since people will buy into just about anything to live longer. the health industry is doing well, too. and what i mean is that medicine and medical practice start from the course and analysis of diseases/maladies, whereas health operates from the perspective of well-being or fitness. medicine is the new church = what i'm saying. and the other would be the internet.
