280 squat 5RM
145 row 5RM
215 bench 5RM
385 dead 5RM
175 incline bench 5RM

Up across the board from where I started in september actually training, hoping to hit 300+ squat and 405 dead in the next 2-3 weeks.

Might take a week off then reset the 5x5 program I am doing or switch to a different routine since I have been doing linear progression since september with only a 1 week break off lifting.

Thoughts?

Getting stronk. Your DL is almost as much as mine, in a few weeks you'll fly past me.
just keep doing what you're doing.

Well my thinking is that if I change my routine even for say 1 month it might help since at the moment I am still doing the same lifts that I have been for over 3 months instead of varying the routine. Like every week is the same thing on repeat

Don't do that, don't fuck /w the program.
Getting strong is what works, changing it is a bad decision.

Yeah but including some variety into the routine just even for a short time can help produce better results when you go back to the original program?

If you're doing 385 5x then 405 should be nothing to you, same with your squat.Just curious what's your weight at now?

I know I could 1RM 405 now, but I want to get my lifts to that point for a 5RM not just a max, and weight is going down but got aways to go still...

can't tell you reliable stats atm, coz last 6-8 months i was concentrating on cardio and getting in shape, aka losing 15 lbs
but atm

187 row 10 reps x 3 sets
242.5 bench 5 reps x 3 sets
242.5 incline bench 10 reps x 3 sets

i don't do legs during last 6 months, it feels like it bothers me from running :donno:

I had hoped so, otherwise I might of invested in those socks to lift...but whats your input on changing a routine that I have been doing for the last 18+ weeks and then going back to it in after 4-5 weeks just to change how the muscles react to lifting?

Well this toilet makes me realize how lazy I've become.

Donno if you want to take the advice of a has been but I think a strict routine that you don't change is only important in the beginning to get you on a schedule and a regular fitness routine. I believe that once your progress starts to slow or stop you need to change your routine to keep your body challenged to grow.

Also, a single rep max is pointless unless you do it rarely as a confidence booster to up your normal repping weight. I think a 1 rep max is a unnecessary risk of straining yourself. (I learned that the hard way)

vouch on all that
besides for it me it matter only that i feel good and that i think that i am in shape
yes, i do feels sometimes like you hit the wall and can not progress any further
but as i said is all up to you
ask yourself one most important question: why are you doing this?
for me its all about condition and to be able doing stuff 10 times harder, better and faster than any average guy in my age can
i'm not there yet, but i am on my way :)

Im doing it to lose weight, get into shape, and help me secure a job when I graduate grad school and beyond. Sick of being a pile of shit that cant do useful stuff

And I think I am on a regular schedule/routine since I have been going from September dedicated, like I am debating switching to my old routine from lifting back in high school for 5-6 weeks and then returning to the 5x5 I am doing.

And 1RM's are bad news, but yet I see people doing them all the time...besides, from where I was to where I am at now is tons better but I have aways to go still, I think legitly adam can vouch that statement. And hopefully when I get to a point I can post before/after pics but thats still off in the distance, hoping for maybe by the summer possibly

easiest way to lose weight is to put on more muscle, the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism

That's a damn impressive dl whatever your weight is ;)

As have I, muscle requires more calories to upkeep then fat that's just a straight up fact

Fat guys lifting impressive weight is proelbay people In a powerlifting routine. I did that for 4 years. It's all about what your goals are. Usually people who are serious about powerlifting dedicate themselves to consuming more calories than their body needs to maximize muscle growth and subsequently fat.

If someone is serious about powerlifting, all they care about is growth so they eat, lift, eat, eat, eat, sleep, repeat

Contrary to popular belief, cardio is counter productive to muscle growth.

I believe even chins will agree with me that bodybuilders and other people looking to cut a lot of bodyfat will also loose muscle. If you find a way to lose extreme amounts of fat without muscle loss, you would be rich.

Well the routine I am using now is a powerlifting routine really but using it to build muscle and lose fat

3 day a week squats, bench M F, incline and dead W, row M F

And dustin yeah I guess, im hoping that by the time I get down to a weight I feel comfortable with I will still be able to dead that and more and it would be more impressive then I guess?

I disagree 1000000000000000000%, cardio is extremely productive for muscle growth.

And if you diet stupid, yes you'll lose muscle. I lost 20 pounds of fat or more, and gained muscle.
Dans doing the same thing I did, removing fat and gaining muscle.

If you're dieting for a show, and getting down to like 5% bf then yea you might lose some muscle, but what he is doing now I doubt he will, if he keeps doing what I say.

I'm also serious about powerlifting, and I probably eat not nearly as much as other powerlifters, just enough above maintenance..maybe 500 or something, and I'm not fat, yet I keep getting strong. You dont have to be fat to be strong, w/o sounding cocky, pound for pound I'm one of the stronger people on here.

Cardio is a tricky thing, some people swear by it...personally i do almost none because it's burning energy meaning you have to eat more to keep up with it.

When high school football was over and I decided not to do Powerlifting anymore, my best were.

Bench 225Lbs.

Squat about 375

Deadlift I did 405 in competition once in powerlifting.

I weighed about 195-200 when I did all of this. Bench was always weak for me. But at least I could get over my body weight.

Today on light day of squats I decided to try to see wat my 10RM was on squat and did 225 for 10 but not sure if I would want to do more squats lol, and yeah 385 dead after that sucked big balls

Might take a week off lifting to get this soreness/problem with shin/ankle area healed up...or just start icing it daily

395 dead was a bitch, does doing 3 reps then slight break/pause then 2 reps count as a 5RM if not done back to back?

Also I have stayed steadily @ like 300-305 for the last week+, although it could be due to my having to change some eating things now that I am back at school.

I think that I am going to get protein bar's since it was if I was home I could have a shake every 2-3 hours if I didnt feel like cooking but now that I am on campus more they would do the same job roughly as a shake...hmmm
