tbh, when i finished with campaign missions and challenges, i'm somewhat disappointed with sc2
not that i expected more, but i see some major flaws in gameplay
- some terran units are way to overpowered
- higher ground concept feels kind off stupid
- almost all protos units and defensive structures are huge under powered, if you compare with sc1
- there is no balance between 3 race units: if i have some terran flying unit, then there must be an equivalent in other 2 races, but there is none
- and most important: it feels that campaign story is kind of unfinished and left in the middle
- some units of every race are overpowered, the game needs to be out for a while to be patched for real balance
- a lot of new features are there to make the game more strategic, so it has more ways to influence a battle other than micro

- thats what makes the races unique, otherwise they would just be the same thing with different images
- i havent played campaign yet, but sc2 is being released in 3 parts, Wings of Liberty is only part 1, the zerg campaign is next, then protoss
lots of the differences between 1 and 2 are geared toward reinventing the game so it stays relevant with the internet gaming scene 10 years later. when sc1 came out, there wasnt millions of people buying the game in the first weeks, there werent easily accessible and popular websites devoted to strategy, [etc]
the reason starcraft 1 died off to being just koreans is because it was 1 dimensional, once people learned the units, the skill involved with the game just came down to who did their actions faster. with all the new features such as chronoboost/mule/queen, unlimited control groups, [etc], the game is more friendly toward constant development of skill. if you arent a pro korean gamer who can micro 80 units at once in every battle, you still can have other factors of the game going for you, such as keeping up a superior economy
