i really dont like rylais on malzahar, i would get a banshees/deathcap for survivability/ap

if someone is running away, you likely wont have to combo them to kill them, and if they are standing still, rylais wont help you combo them

banshees makes a big impact on malz's anti-burst at the beginning of team fights, which gives you time to lay down your shit

all the casters definitely have their own niche,
vlad/morde -> rylais then ap
riftdog/karthus/anivia -> roa/archangels then ap/survivability
ryze -> mana
malz/annie/leblanc/brand -> ap then survivability

chasers
spammers
ryze
nukers

not to say rylais is bad on any mage, but theres more priority for other things, such as a deathcap
