did you start playing wow or some other game, or did you make the switch to real life?

Fuck the big four, ridiculously overpriced tickets for bands past their prime. Megadeth are good but Dave can't sing anymore, plus they don't really have a stage show, which is pretty lame if they're playing arenas. Anthrax are pretty much irrelevant and boring these days, they play too much of their bad music like they don't know the difference. Haven't seen Metallica, I might see them if tickets are reasonable. Slayer put on a solid show and the crowd is always nuts for them, but everything they have done in the past 20 years is awful, especially live.

I think there's a Death Angel + Warbringer tour coming up though, both solid shows for thrash bands. I saw Death Angel with ~80 people once and they are fucking sick live, they can work a crowd really well (especially considering that they were an opener for a lame has-been band that night).

yeah i agree with most of what you said, but i want to see them more for being able to say that i have seen metallica and anthrax before they die in a plane crash or some shit. megadeth is awesome but the vocals sound the same to me. the only thing missing was marty friedman but the replacement [whose name i cant think of] is nb. if you want to talk about bad vocals, id say tom araryaryar has gotten pretty shitty. id love to see some old school south of heaven/raining blood in new york, but unfortunately they would play for about a hour which means you'd also hear some new gay shit. anthrax would be cool to see, but not the sole reason why i would go to new york. the cool band to see would be metallica and see some seek and destroy.

are you considering going? probably cost about $1500 for everything per person [for me at least]

I laughed at the ticket price alone, it's a gimmick. Tom Araya doesn't do the high screams anymore, but he still does a pretty good job of stuff like Seasons. No way I'm going to that, I also passed up Metallica at MSG because their tickets were twice that of Iron Maiden at the same venue - I think I paid $60-70 for Maiden for a pretty good seat, Metallica would've been 100+ to be further back, so fuck that.

Going to be missing most shows coming up anyway until I find a new job.

Nope, quit a week ago because I hated the job and I was basically doing three peoples jobs at once, couldn't deal with awful scheduling and retail bullshit getting worse.

It's a pretty shitty job when you consider that you are watching the crowd rather than the band, most of the shows suck, and the most interesting thing you get to do at most shows is gesture at people for using cameras or smoking weed, occasionally needing to keep crowd surfers off stage or slow down a violent mosh pit. And you work the shittiest hours ever and get paid something like $9/hour. Most of the good shows would be spent making sure sweaty dudes wearing boots and no shirt didn't break their necks while crowdsurfing.

I had a friend who was a security guard, he was one of two people scheduled as pit security for a hometown Hatebreed show of 1000+ people, with Terror opening. If people were flailing and hitting people outside of the pit, or being excessively violent, I was allowed to knock them over, charge them, or whatever. That was a lot of fun but I probably should have died that night.
